Has anyone else played this game? It's an old one but I picked it up again and decided to play the full war scenario.

I'm playing as the U.S.A. and had decided early on to not build anything more than my already extensive navy and a few strat bombers.

I instead focused all my industrial capacity on research towards rockets and nuclear weapons. I'm almost able to deploy nukes in early 1942 and managed thus far to stay out of the war.

I did not put my pacific carrier fleet in HI. It's parked in San Diego.

Here is the twist. I had voted multiple times to give a shit fuck of supplies and some manpower etc to the U.K. for the lend lease but they wouldn't have anything to do with us.

Sooooo now I'm allies with Germany and crew with the world against and Japan is still not siding with us.

Since I will have nukes waaaaaaaay earlier due to my initial doctrine to do so I think I should blow the fuck out of everyone. (I usually don't see nukes at all until late 45-47 in my previous games and nobody uses them when they do get em... I will.)

Anyways somehow I turned America into fascist without the southern baptists help. Fascist enough to either have joined the Nazis or the communist soviets... seriously only I could fuck this up somehow.

I've changed cabinet members and leaders to get a popular 98% of the nation willing to join the war.

Anyways if anyone has this game I wouldn't mind picking up a multiplayer game some time. Supports several players as well it would be like a live/save able diplomat game only much more deeper.

***Yes I realize I have no fucking rubber and it's now impossible to trade for it on the world market. Thus I've extended research in to synthesizing it from my vast oil production.

****oh shit I just realized I seriously fucked up. Fuck. I'm now at war with Canada and I've left the borders completely void of any resistance other than a few fighter squadrons. Fuck it I'll nuke America's hat too.

It may be by now. The first time I bought it when it first came out it was like $49.99 yeaaaars ago.

I lost all my shit obviously since.

I found it at Big Lots for $2 bucks picking up cat litter for the roommate.

I prefer hearts of iron 1 over the sequels.

I've played them all but HOI 1 is just fine.

**there are extensive mods for HOI however I'm just playing the vanilla version.

Yeah they're not something you can just jump into.

Knowledge of the period will help however but it is a complex game. I love strat games in depth.

I was so enamored by the fact that U.S.A. was allied with the axis that I am now getting fucked up by the canadiens. Luckily my superior air power has them thwarted thus far with more in production including my nukes and flying bombs/rockets.

I guess I'll just concentrate on pwning the canucks first... the Mexicants haven't done shit yet but I put about 30 flotillas around their borders. Perhaps they're scared.

I actually think it's a little too indepth. I mean, they break down the states into like 5 sub-states... really? now I have to pay attention to 250 states instead of our 50? or whatever.

I think I would love this game if it were a bit less crazy indepth.

Really once you get your feet wet it's all second nature and shit happens pretty fast. Slow setting and pause for thinking is your friend.

Again I remember returning HOI 3 almost a day after purchasing it. HOI 1 is where it's at for me.

Currently I'm getting my holy ass kicked in Concord. I should have thought about that but thought I could sue for peace at the very least.

It's a pretty overwhelming game at first but if you spend some time just exploring it and trying shit you'll get sucked in on your real attempt.

*** I'm trying to coup mexicants hehehe. Just have fun and you'll learn the depth of the game no problem.

holy fuck, it goes by the HOURS in the day????

This game is way too fucking slow/seriously too indepth for casual/enjoyable play. I mean, it's cool that I can change the AA guns on my carriers, along with what engine, armor, hangar, etc it has.. but come on, I'm just trying to research cool shit and it's going to take 30+ minutes on the fastest time setting to do it.

Great concept - too time consuming

I frequently leave it running while I'm downstairs watching tv or what not.

You can send me your copy if you don't like it :)
