The second my mind is empty on my paladin I'll stick him in the armor and get some flares to post.

Note: The warthogs cannot be stunned, so I went to supplicants after to show it can stun the attacker too.

Seems to flare against anything with AS (not CS). Can flare from arrows and bolt spells. I haven't noticed it flare defensively against cmans, but it does flare on offensive cmans.

Flares about 20% of the time you get struck, average flare is about 15 damage. In the short time I was out testing I saw both a 1 damage flare and a death crit flare:
