Tootsie Pop Wrappers

Anyone ever redeem a tootsie pop wrapper with the star for a free tootsie pop? My Co-worker just said she did a few times at a Maverick gas station as a kid. I always heard you had to mail them in (might as well just buy one). Anyways here's a fun little article on it too.

i remember i had over 100 at one point when i was little. i have no idea why i never tried to redeem them. i think it was just the novelty of collecting them.

and yes, clearly i ate way too many of them to amass such a number
