Huh...that actually is a pretty fair deal. You should post this kind of stuff more often, Sean. Except, you should find a way to get clickthru points or some such, you might actually make money then.

please, dont post this shit more often.

If we cared, we would watch HSN

You're a dipshit if you don't want heads up on good deals.

Doesn't matter who the vendor is a deal is a deal.

And no Rev I don't get anything out of this. When I had people calling up and buying batches of 10 and 20 to resell I figured it was worth sharing.

To be fair where you failed was:

I haven't had a chance to research prices but they're selling like crazy.

If you research real quick and tell us it's 20 bucks lower than they are anywhere else, that's one thing...

I'll give you a nickel's worth of free advice while I'm at it... When you see a commercial that says you have 5 minutes to call for a special offer, it's just a gimmick to get you to call. As are the people who "call" HSN and tell you how good of a deal it is. Same for the "# of people who have bought it already" ticker at the bottom of the screen.

to buy something because it's 'a deal' is a retarded reason to buy shit.

You're just pretty much retarded if you don't want heads up on something you may need or want at a good price.

I'm ON THE PHONE non stop. I put up the pertinent info and links in between calls and let you decide.

This shit tends to sell out fast so thus use your own judgment with the information I provided.

I didn't even know it was going to be a special today until people were buying such large batches I was like uhm wtf and when I searched the net real quick all I saw was the slick deal sites and shit announcing.

But whatever.

You honestly don't know what the fuck you're talking about. The commercial shit is a gimmick on the billy mays etc shit but I have shit literally sell out while on the phone with people in a matter of seconds.

The numbers they show on HSN tv are 100% real. They show the same numbers in my system and on the screens in house at the studio.

fuck off.

**I'd like to edit to add that I also thought the numbers and what they said on HSN were bullshit until I worked in house. The hosts and guests are actually held to strict standards about what they say as well.

Of course they're held to strict standards, if they say the wrong thing it's false advertising and they could get sued.

You have to admit, there's no way you could know if those numbers are real or not. Just because when they hit 0 there's really none left, doesn't mean the number is accurate for the rest of the way down.

At any rate, I'd probably hold off buying a GPS navigation for now anyway...
Cause these are going to explode here soon:

Google is too kick ass. I mean comon...
You: "Navigate to the museum with the king tut exhibit in san fransciso"
Google: "Okay..."

Did you miss the part where Sean works for HSN and the numbers on the screen are the same numbers he is showing in his system to sell those items?

Pretty sure there's a way he could know if those numbers are real or not.

If he were an executive for HSN, I'd say sure. But as a call center vetran, they don't always give the lowbees the information that's right, but the information they want them to say is right.

Yes, I will concede that he probably has more accurate information, and before my first post I didn't know he worked for HSN. However, the bottom line is that HSN is trying to sell things, and they have and still do use car salesmen tactics. And people fall for far too much shit from people trying to sell them things.

I'm of the camp that you can believe nothing that comes out of anybody's mouth who is trying to get a single penny out of you. You do the research yourself, and then find a good deal for the product you want, making sure to read all fine print before agreeing. Taking any salesmen on his word is retarded.

I've got the numbers here at my fingertips dipshit. I CAN'T SELL SOMETHING THAT SAYS 0 QUANTITY.

They also have screens all over the call center in real time showing a matrix much like a stock ticker of quantity sold, available, wait list, backorder, calls on hold, active calls etc.

This place is a huge fucking tv station it's not fucking billy mays jive talk.

*Actually the sales and service room is about as large as and reminds me of the stock exchange floor just much much quieter.

I'd like to say that I am a call center veteran as AN EXECUTIVE for 9 years before this job at HSN. (Resume may have helped me be one of 32 selected for hire out of 7000 applicants /shrug)

again fuck off.

Depends if you like going around your elbow to get to your ass like my roommate does when driving.

I hate riding with her but it's infinitely better than the alternative.

For what it's worth, Magellan kind of sucks and it doesn't have a traffic subscription. I can't even find another store selling that model.

Meaning just because you can't sell something when there's 0 left doesn't mean the number is accurate the whole way down. It could tell you there's 500 left when there's really 10 left.

At any rate, I know people like to cherry pick what they read and respond to... but I also said...

Which I think explained my trepidation and cynical attitude toward salesmen tactics fairly well.

as AN EXECUTIVE for 9 years before this job at HSN.
By Executive I meant more like 'Executive vice president making 6 figures with a corner office and a hot personal secretary'...

and not so much 'Executive phone sales making minimum wage + commission in a cubicle with a supervisor'

I was by no means that G5 flying executive and did not mean to infer that.

I was an operations manager and sat at the round table. My superiors were the vice president, president and next the owner.

Ya know my own office and leather chairs and all that shit. Basically I was ran the the place (daily operations) on down. I rarely saw the others unless we were golfing or at a meeting.

And despite what you think the numbers are real at HSN. We want happy customers not customers we have to say "awwww I'm sorry that item is out of stock." when they try to order something.
