It will become an institution, mark my word.

100 beers on tap, 500 beers in stock, 5 cask ales, gastro pub upstairs, bistro downstairs. If the food is decent (and it should be as the executive chef and pastry chef have a rediculous pedigree from NYC restaurants), it will be jam packed for years to come. Think Matchbox with MUCH better beers and more than just pizza.

CHUUUUURCHKEEEEEEY. Yes, although there was quite a protest from the old Dakota Cowgirl crowd when it closed there, the quality of the new bar has completely silenced that.
When are we going to do a PC drinkathon there?

100 beers on tap? nice. Wish a bar around me would have Aventinus on tap. Of course an Oscar Blues restaurant just opened down the street from work. And their brewery is right down the street. Really fresh beer on tap. I smell the hops every time I drive home.

Not to rain on any parades, but I'm not too enthused about drinking on the same block as a club named "Titan's Ramrod". Just not my scene.
Brickskeller does have an amazing beer selection but not on draft.
I’ll try anything once. Looks like I need to get to work!

I'm up for another PC DC drink-a-thon anytime. As long as it's metro-accessible, the location is irrelevant IMO.
It's been about a year since the last one, right?

More than a year I think. It is high time. I am willing to go elsewhere as I have been Churchkeying it up a few times since it opened, but it is a pretty awesome place. It isn't very metro accessible though, so if that would affect turnout I'm game for somewhere else.

Both Brickskellar and RFD have (1) inconsistent beer selection, (2) very few on draft, (3) have probably never heard of a cask ale, and (4) horrible food.
This place will have (1) 100 beers on tap, (2) 5 cask ales, and (3) a kitchen with an executive chef/pastry chef from legit NYC restaurants.
It is a gastro pub, not a dingy basement with generic fried food.

I'll be going to Churchkey Wednesday for dinner and drinks. I'll report back on the food. I expect to select from the available casks.

Lol, the address as 1337 14th Street. It must be a happenin place! Leet on 14th! Although 14th doesn't quite have the reputation it did 15 years ago, it's all upscale now.

I went to the bar last night after The Get Up Kids show.
The kitchen wasn't open, but I did have the cask Two Hearted Ale from Bell's.
I was not at all impressed by the bartenders. The bar was sloppy with excess dishes (emply glasses and food plates). But I'll be back on Friday for some dinner and drinks.

Hahaha...yeah, i chatted with my friend last night. I don't think he's going to be there much longer. He said that the quality of employee there is absurdly low. Unfortunately you get people who hop from "hot spot" to "hot spot" in DC without really making an effort.
It'll get worse before it gets better, but don't just give up on it. I think that place will be a go-to for a long time. I'm headed down to DC on Thursday for the night, and am going to make an effort to check it out.

That place looks pretty cool but I still remember back at FSU a bagel shop that had all you could drink beer on tap at each table/booth and you could be served as soon as it was legal to serve. Now that was a novel idea.

Took the wife and baby last Sunday before the evening rush. Stone Pale Ale was very nice, the space is great and the menu -- both liquids and solids -- very decent.
Heh. I went last Friday. Here is the story...
So I invited this one nighter that has been texting me to hook up again. I got there first at 6:30pm Friday night. There was a line so I said fuck that and went up the street (14th) looking for another place to chill while the crowd died down.
Found a place not to crowded that had a decent menu only a block away. Playbill. Its across from Busboys & Poets and a theatre. It seemed very low key but when I walked in EVERYONE in the bar turned and looked at me.
I found a roomy spot at the bar and got a draft. Then I started noticing things... movie musical posters on the walls, Diana Ross on the sound system, no sports on the tee vees, all guys in the place, the bartender with an affected lisp... oops! Yep, gay bar. lol.
Anyway my friend showed up looking like Joan Jet after an ice cream binge and we laughed about it. Went over to Church around 8 and actually found a seat in the lounge in back.
Great place. My only disappointment was that they don’t serve 22oz. Very hip professional crowd. Keller was right. It is the new place to be in DC.
Unless you like Diana Ross and musicals.

I go there often for their wings as they are good and I can walk there without ever stepping foot outdoors.
But their beers are pedestrian. Not that I mind a $3 larger beer -- but I usually go for $3 domestics on a Saturday afternoon while watching football. Not Sunday evening when I'm trying to get ready for the week.

Stoned in the park, stoned on the bus, stoned in our hotel room, where yes, 5 17 year old guys shared one room with two king sized beds and one couch. We were young, and poor.
