Masterwork instruments and spellsongs?

Does anyone have any information or know the impact of using a master quality instrument with spellsongs, as opposed to standard quality instruments? I've been looking up old chat logs and posts all day but cannot find anything. Is it purely a roleplay benefit, or is there more to it?

Last I knew, master quality just gave you a few more scripts as you progress in the training of that instrument.
