I got a new rogue and he's in the guild, I got in the guild OK, but I dont know my way around, or how to do anything... how do I see how many ranks I have in things? status? a freaking map of the guild perhaps? <hangs head>

My only problem with rogueguild.com is it's Midgar Zolom's.
Midgar Zolom = The pansy snake in FFVII. Near Midgar.

At first glance, the tanik strongbox appears to be covered with hundreds of tiny metal scales. Closer examination reveals the "scales" to be razor sharp at the edges and possessing of a downward-facing needlelike tip. However, you should be able to avoid cutting yourself if you are careful.
It looks like a somewhat difficult trap (about -120).
You still have a good enough picture of the trap in your mind, that you could try to disarm it.

Disarm, pick, disarm with dagger in one hand. Gotta learn how to handle scale traps.

When you see a crystal sphere, disarm with a lockpick in your hand to avoid more massive fines.
So if a rogue fails to disarm a scale trap but passes the box off for someone else to open who gets fined? The poor slob who opens it or the rogue who didn't disarm the box?

Hey, ya know, that'd be a great way to do terrorist attacks in GS. Find a scale trap, pick the lock without disarming, hand the box to a locker character, take it to the Small Park, open it up, laugh your ass off while you die, get tossed in prison.
