I bought an all-in-one Lexmark printer back in early 2007 when my scanner broke and the cost of ink cartridges for my old ass printer were too high and it has been a workhorse for most of the applications I need.

So, before I went to Iraq back in December of last year I had some excess Staples rewards credits that I used towards buying a 2 pack of ink high capcacity cartridges (one B&W, the other one color) but didn't get around to installing them until last Thursday night around 9PM since I still had a tiny bit of red ink in the old cartridge and could print shit I didn't care about anyway but it had finally run out.

I installed the two cartridges and got the error that the B&W one was incorrect, so I got on Lexmark's website and started a chat session to see if there was any troubleshooting I could do. We went through a couple different things to see if it would work and it just kept giving the same error.

I just kind of figured I'd need to go get another damn $20 cartridge at the end but I stuck it out and lo and behold the rep gave me a control number and said that they'd ship out a new B&W high capacity cartridge free of charge by Next Day UPS.

I was floored. What company would be willing to do that with A) no recepit even showing I had bought the cartridges, B) the fact that printer was waaaaay out of warranty and I had no receipt for that either, and C) I only had to chat online with no verification of identity or credit card info.

Suffice it to say, I'm a Lexmark customer for life now. That is the way to treat a customer...no bullshit, helpful assistance through the website outside of office hours. I'd recommend them to anyone.

They ship out loads of cartridges for free. Crates, really. The cartridges don't really cost much to make, but it is their bread and butter in terms of sales. I used to work in their bilingual tech support for lasers and multifunction machines and even overseas, they didn't ask for all that much information for inkjet.

Now, if it were toner, they'd ask for more information from you.
