In 2003, you release an album, and its a hit, with songs such as this:

Everyone's like "Hey guys, make another album please we like this"
But instead of doing that you split up and work on two bands that don't matter.
Then 6 years later I hear this song on the radio:

At least they inspired someone to copy their style.
EDIT: Somehow these strange vocals evoke Bob Dylan for me.

Postal Service didn't really split up - they were a side project for Ben Gibbert, et al. They never even really met up to record or perform; they send recordings to each other though, get this, the POSTAL SERVICE!!!
But yeah I was into Postal Service for sure and my GF still listens to that album pretty often. And that Fireflies track by Owl City could definitely be a Postal Service song.

One of those bands matter?
They both sound like auto-tuned shit to me...
At least the first one used it responsibly... sort of.

The first is someone who can actually sing with electronic beats in the background. It isn't an autotune driven track.
As for the second, when I first heard it I thought it was another Gibbons side project.
Heh, Postal Service were good. Reminds me of another band oh so long ago who were similar and went out very quickly...

Half the fun of following the Postal Service is figuring out the new random names the guy comes up with for his bands.
