Being in a group at all times. I'm Looking to pick at my best, but also take down some critters. Right now Will be hanging out in the Taint, Gremlock area. That will be the hunting spot. I need some help making the best picker/hunter. If i had to hunt alone I would have to change this alot. I need to just get a hit in so I can learn. I would like to be able to pick the best I can and get that done.
I've put this together
At level 80: Ranks X
Armor Use 140 1.7
Shield Use 162 2.0
Edged Weapons 162 2.0
Combat Maneuvers 81 1.0
Ambush 162 2.0
Physical Fitness 81 1.0
Dodging 81 1.0
Climbing 20 0.2
Swimming 20 0.2
Disarm Traps 227 2.8
Picking Locks 227 2.8
Stalking and Hiding 162 2.0
Perception 174 2.1
Harness Power 5 0.1
Spell Research 4 0.0
Minor elemental 4 0.0
Someone help would be greatful
I figure this would put me into plate. I could hide, ambush still. 3xed in picking and disarming, and enough perception to pick up any traps i would need to. enough mana to cast 404. and 401, would have to grab more hp. in the up coming lvls, along with swiming, and climbing.

um why would you only do 20 ranks of pf as a rogue? has it been years since you've played or are you a newb? i don't mean it in a bad way im serious, because A. stamina for Cmans is being avoided, and B. damage reduction are the 2 biggest factors that you're cheating yourself out of at a very cheap cost
if its so that you can get a full 3x of picking, then burn a fixskills so you can at the very least get at 1x physical fitness instead of only 20 ranks. at level 80 you should be able to pick all of OTF boxes pretty easily at roughly a 2.5-2.75x training. atleast i was able to when i hunted the area. 2.5x will with out a doubt allow you to pick your duct boxes.

yeah this is only my draft its not final. and yes i have been gone over a year now. Trying to work in the plate. I also knew you were going to put that.. reason I posted this:]. I did forget about the stamina thing though. Let me work on it a bit more, ill and ill see what i can do here

well to be honest at this level you're going to want the damage reduction more than anything because at this type of level a rogue, is going to get hit during hunts. its just a fact of life and you're going to want to be able to take those hits doing the least damage possible
also, depending on your shield size, you most likely can drop to 1x shield and be just fine. with those extra TP's i strongly suggest grabbing some AS, MIU, harness power for spellburst so you can wear more than just 401 for defensive magic in OTF

yeah thats plenty of AS/MIU/HP for spellburst with that roughly you should be able to wear 401, 406, 414, 101, 103, 107, 202, 601, 503, and 509 in spell burst areas just fine. you shouldn't need anymore of that type of training. you will have decent durations from scrolls and imbeds now. plus can wear a lot more spells now in spellburst :)
also you shouldn't notice any problems with picking. very rarely will OTF spit out a box that you can't pick at this point. your max lock just guess-timating should be around -1100 with your own lore....give or take and otf is usually less than that. every once in a great while you'll come across one but that will always happen
besides thats what lmaster wedge is for :)
your build is for lack of better words, cookie cutter at this point. but its very easy and a viable one
edit: if you have any left over TP's after all this is said and done i'd strongly advise adding to swimming. can only help at this point and if you want to graduate to Nelemar at later levels you're going to need the swimming. however, this can also come later levels as you train up so if you can make the swim into otf now, i would just worry about it when i train each level at this point

That all looks good, I'd really like to see where all those TP's are going to come from though. Even at 1x dodge (really?)... That doesn't look doable to me. Could be wrong though.

that has some of the lvl 81 stuff added to it. but the plan worked, only thing i changed was, i went more with the as, because they are cheaper. and i guess i had to move prep a little bit.

I wouldn't bother with plate. I'd get 90 ranks, rock MBP and spread the other points out more climb and swim perhaps?
and if you just want to hit things and you're not soloing, i'd single in ambush. and you could actually save more points by dropping sword/board and going to ranged and just get a short bow.
Again this is all if you just want to hit things, not actually kill them.

Yeah I would definitely recommend going ranged since it is more TP efficient and much much much more group friendly. Hiding in groups is totally broken.

It's been made a prioritylulz! I'm guessing that's why they've ignored any and all questions about its status with the onset of group-unfriendly or group-required releases recently.

When I talked to Oscuro at Simucon he wasn't very optimistic about it being fixed anytime soon. Kind of like when I talked to Ildran about it the year before...
Anyway, we were also asking for some kind of bandaid like a cman that would work in a group to let you 'hide behind' group members to get the ambushing pushdown and crit adder without actually having to hide and ungroup which he showed some interest in and may have a chance at getting implemented since he plans to add some more cmans RSN.

yeah, i was trying to make it where if i needed to hunt by my self i could. i already used my potion with the current settings. seems the ambushing is a bit weak right now. compared to what it was before I changed it.

It's kind of annoying that it's being considered in that fashion, though: Having to spread your cman training even MORE thin by training in a band-aid fix for something the that another mechanic should be providing as-is (by staff and player opinion alike). i.e. Hide should be working one way, they can't figure it out, so you have to pay TPs for it to almost work similarly to the way it should (without additional TP cost).
If anything such a mechanic should be based on a point system similar to the armor specialization except with ambush ranks. That way you're introducing a new mechanic, not spreading an existing one thinner.
Personally, I'd seriously consider (if I was asked to vote on it) a proper revision of group hiding mechanics at the cost of having no other rogue development ever in the future of GS.
Also, from what he said on the rogue dev boards, he was intending to look at the training (and possibly stamina cost) of some cmans and the vulnerability list. I don't think anything was really said about developing new cmans.
