Come on all you budding novelists!

Ever wanted to be a paperback writer? Have you talked about that novel you always wanted to write? Now is the time. Now is your chance.

It's almost that time again as October winds down to put on that old thinking cap and write, write, write!

NaNoWriMo (http://www.nanowrimo.org/) begins November first.

It was a black enough night on the highway.

My wings had their bluetooth headsets tuned to my rig. Barreling through the night, lights off and infrared on, we found our prize...

Here comes Mr. Porsche Boxer... lights blaring, music screaming, blonde in the passenger seat. Most likely high on cocktails and Viagra and not giving a shit. Perfect.

My wings know the drill and perform it in perfect execution. At 70k they stretch the stopper between them in the dark then drop it before the Porsche.

Oops, to be continued!!!!

50,000 words is quite a piece. Props to anyone who does it non-terribly.

The spikestrip popped the old man’s dinosaur and we turboed back into black.

Before the satellite slip we were on it. My rig jamming it all... crazy blonde in hysterics... fat man did not know what to do.

Cheap score. Chump change. A few bills, pills, and more of a problem than a profit.

These nights. You never know.

Holy crap. 50,000 words in 30 days. That's about 6 pages each day.

I might just try it - if for no other reason than I've been putting off writing forever. And I hate my life.

We left the scene and howled back to base, my wings perfect. Dylan and Rachel.

Then I felt it. Through the helmet in the black of night the chopping of helicopter blades.

Fast forward, kids. Its an ambush.

Fat man must’ve been important... this is bad enough to call off the wings for their own sake, off side roads. Split and run. Laws of the dark highway.

I gun it, copter behind, towards the interstate. Hitting 120k when I get to the underpass. Flapping wings pass over head. Ditch the rig and back into the underground.

We live off the grid. We do not obey. We see the system for what it is and reject it. We are the real patriots.

It was a dark and stormy night.

As I close the hatch I realize that they now know a general location. Evacuation.

“Move! Now!” I scream as I help usher all the women and children towards the tunnels... its dark, dank, and our only refuge. We scramble and desert what was once our home into a belly of concrete and wire.

As the last of us leave we can hear the bombs whistling then striking the earth. It deafens our ears and blacks our eyes and chokes us with dust as we scramble to escape. Entire surnames.

We move and they move. We are safe for now but still on the run.

When the bombs subside, I track back. The rig is still there and I still have my wings. We are not done yet.

Electric. Not as fast but stealthy. My visor shows the power level, map and anything moving more than 10k in my perimeter.

Rachel is on. No sign from Dylan. No time. No looking back.

We rendezvous in the dark and head west. Buzzing towards it. I am hell bent and god bless her for even trying to keep up with me...

And she does...

We’re a bomb on four wheels headed for the heart of the establishment.

I only got to a little more then 12,000 words last year, but it was worth it.

I met some pretty decent people, worked on some long set-aside skills and gained a new found (or perhaps "re-found") respect for people that write novels.

We’ve got the kill button switch and the maps. If we can make it to the point we can shut the whole thing down.

Suddenly, out of the dark, Rachel goes down. Her headset is static. Life-line bleep. I race forward determined.

Shadows dance but my visor shows a blockade. Simple enough, hit the dirt. My map blinks red but I ignore it... clean sweep through the rocks.

Then it is front tire faceplant. Twisted off lucky but still a lamb in the field. Nothing broken. You have to know how to fall.

Blackness.

I've wanted to write a novel for a long time. I've written notes, and even a rough outline, but never actually sat down to it. I guess unemployment might be a good time to start, eh?

I wake up to screaming wheels on the back of Dylan. Thirsty and blood sore through the block. He is shouting what sounds like Korean, and I don’t understand a word of it.

Two quick jumps and we are back on the black top. My visor is cracked so I just lean into the ride. Dylan is smarter than I thought... and I still have the killswitch.

Back
10-22-2009, 02:50 AM
25 seconds... the spotlights blare. 24 seconds... Dylan shifts weight left and I lean. 23 seconds... we are headed to the weak spot. 22 seconds... sirens wail. 21 seconds... the target is in sight. 20 seconds... the copters lift off. 19 seconds... we bump down the hill to the gate.

18 seconds... crap, this is going to be close.

Dylan took the shot and we wiped. Third time for me in less hours. Broke a wing but everything else is working. Managed to crawl out of the investigation towards the soft spot.

Thumb was numb but hit the killswitch.

Shut it all down. The lights, the copters, and the sirens.

Frosted breath is the last thing I remember.

I want to write a novel detailing the life of a young man that grows up during the turmoil of the internet explosion.

I need some character backgrounds.

Oh Back, your story is lols.

I would all kinds of write a novel if I had a. the attention span, and b. a not completely awkward writing style and c. the attention span again because seriously, damn.

TBQH, I'm kinda scared to try too, but eh.

Give it a try.

a) The attention span part, well this is only for a month.

b) Styles are styles. There is a community at the website where you can seek help, or criticism, from other writers. People there are happy to help.

c) One month. 50,000 word goal.

Don't be scared!

In the end we are what we get done.

You know what...I can't stand Backlash. I think he is an obnoxious little pipsqueak. But he's the only one who has posted anything for us to read here. And you know what, it's not all that bad.

It started off okay and got pretty bad pretty quickly. Also I have a really small penis so I have to make fun of Backlash in order to make myself feel better.

I was going to post some of my Thomas the Tank Engine slasher fanfiction, but I think the rape scene and accompanying illustration are probably against TOS.
