View Full Version : What would you pay for leveling?

What kind of interest would there be in a new character leveling service?
How it would work: You'd create a new 30 day basic account. Choose your new character name and class. I'd use the account and get your character to level 25ish (depending on the class. could possibly be higher, maybe lower. No exact guarantees) before the thirty days are up with no AFK scripting infractions.
You'd get the free 30 day fixstats / fixskills to set your character up however you like.
I've developed an awesome leveling strategy and hunting script, and am just curious what kind of interest there could be to see if it's worth my time or effort. Payment would be 50% up front, 50% after finished.
If anything it may be a decent way for people to pick up a support class character with a name of their choosing (pocket empath or wizard, etc).

I could see you making upwards of $20!

I did something like this back when GS was actually still popular. I was getting like 6-10m per char, but that was ages ago and silvers where selling for 15-16 per back then.

For just that? People wouldn't pay much.
Higher level stuff runs into payment/trust issues.

look at how much a level 25 character sells for now. You may get more due to them being able to pick race, name, etc... But it'll also take a month before they get the character so that would be a con.
On GS Auctions, characters 20-30 appear to be going from 3.5m to about 11m.

The money wouldn't be worth the time invested.
Might I suggest a job?

It's worth more in DR with the upcoming release of Necros and the lack of skill caps.

That, because you won't be able to get enough customers to run enough characters simultaneously to get a decent return.
The flipside is that I'd wager you're going to be spending the time monitoring scripts on your own characters anyway, and you want a larger return on time invested regardless. Even then, I'd argue it wouldn't be worth the hassle.
Especially when you consider the risk of linking your IP address to additional scripting characters.

The guy who played Barumples did something like this for awhile. I'm assuming he quit because the money sucked.
The character market isn't exactly stellar. I got like $500 for my capped rogue, and I think he was in the top ten for the profession in exp. when he went (13.5?)

your rogue must have sucked balls, because I got $450 for Hopdevil. Then again, he probably shits on your rogue's face.

I could see paying about 5-6mil for the convenience of not having to fucking deal with it myself. Especially if you threw in things like society mastering, etc.

If he's just script-watching, he could do 12-15 at a time, which might be worth it if you aren't doing anything else with your time- 7m per, 84 to 105m a month?

you'd need to find 12-15 people a month that wanted that. GS really doesn't have the population to support this, well, and make it worthwhile anyways.

This is a terrible idea, if you want to make money, you should look into a real job.

Remind me what I did with that $500, my memory seems to be fading ;)
Also, I am guessing it went for a discount because it was soiled by Nakiro during those box ho years.

If he's doing this as his only source of $$ then yes, it'd be a terrible idea. I'm pretty sure this would be a hobby/side-project.

I would pay some big silver to have someone finish lock mastery for me on my rogue who is on rank 33ish right now. I would supply all the boxes, all they would have to do is, well, the BS.
