I understand that Gemstone IV is a roleplaying game but for all those who are married to another character in GSIV, what would you do if you found out later that the person your character is married to is someone of the same sex in real life?
Meaning a guy playing a girl in Gemstone IV or a girl playing a guy.
I personally wouldnt be able to roleplay with them anymore and type WARN INTERACTION right after they told me that. Talk about ACKWARD!

Oh, please. I know plenty of people who play characters of the opposite sex. I knew two guys who played lesbian characters that were married to each other.
I guess if you're not personally invested in the in-game relationship, or if you're not wanking off to cybersex every other second, it really shouldn't matter. It's roleplaying. The character is what is important, not the person behind the character.

Um... it's roleplaying.
Learn to seperate.
I wanna roleplay out my fantasy of being a woman!

It's strange if you ask me.

I was ok with finding out Shay was actually Bob - however the fact that I cybered dozens of times with a 14 year old did bother me for a few minutes.

Personally I don't think i would find it AWKWARD at all.
Then again, it is RP, you arent really married to that person in real life, and if you can't RP that situation than maybe you need to realise you aren't as good a RPer as you like to think you are.
I may be crazy in real life, but I'm not a hobbit, nor do I go around randomly barking at people.

That was the most disgusting thing I have ever read. Wezas needs about 30 demerit points for that post.

I read in the London Evening Standard about this woman with her head on backwards that goes around barking at people...you sure it's not you?
And for the topic in hand, get a life mister.
If you are so in lurve with your character's partner that you are compromising you personal morals, you should be a little more careful about what you do on the internet.
On the other hand, if you are roleplaying the way roleplaying should be, then it shoudlnt make the blindest bit of difference.
Rarr, however...now thats a difference story.
Oh yeah, and I think it would be hard to deal with Caladari pretending to be a girl and telling OOC chat that his balls are smelly.

Cybering would be awkward (not that I would know). Roleplay wouldn't.

Guys cannot perfectly plays women, and vice versa.
I would simply stop speaking to the person, if that said person would pretend to be a woman, and not just for the fun of it.

Im sorry but I can only take roleplaying so far. This is a damn game and im not about to roleplay with some other guy and pretend to be married and all lovey dovey with his character. That just seems EXTREMELY gay to me.

Dwarves are stereotypicaly easy to play, hell, you were seeing in gs weak joyful dwarves, and so on.
Still, playing another gender is different.
And gemstone is somewhat a romance games for a lot of people too............................................... .................................................. ..........................................

That's something you should really think about before you decide to role-play a relationship.
If you can't handle to potential, you can't handle the role-play.
In the few times I caved enough to attempt a character relationship, the participating characters were generally controlled by nut jobs who didn't understand the meaning of "game". After that I never bothered again.
