They just took my youngest back into surgery. I have about a three hour wait..and goodness it's going to take forever. She is twelve and this is a bit life changing surgery. So if you all wouldn't mind sending some positive thoughts, or prayer's here way I'l appreciate it.

thank you,

Kids are tough. She'll be fine and wanting to know what you're going to give her for not complaining when she's done. ;)

True ^. Kids are so much braver than adults some times.

Everything will be ok. :)

Well, my positive thoughts are usually all boobies and motorboating noises, but I guess just this once I can tear my brain away...

Best of luck to you and your daughter! :hug2:

I asked Tricia last night what she wanted after surgery, this morning she thought she was starving, and she asked for a Milk shake. As soon as her tummy wakes up, I'll be getting her a giant chocolate shake.

Surgery I'm sure will go well. The Shriner's Hospital in Shreveport is amazing. They admitted her a day early, and have me sleeping in a recliner next to her bed. The entire staff from the cleaning crew to the doctors are all so friendly and helpful. I really didn't feel like strangers were taking my baby off when she went to surgery. they let me walk all the way to the operating room with her.

anywhoo..I babble

sex change?

j/k hope whatever it is goes well. Don't give her the milkshake too soon, I puked up a popsicle after surgery once.

It's always awful to wait for a loved one in surgery. Here's wishing your daughter a speedy recovery.

Sitting back in her room. She has a morphine pain pump, with a button to push when she needs to. She's had valium for muscle spasms, but boy is she mad at me. I'm chalking it up to the anesthesia making her just grouchy. They said tonight would be the worst, as the morphine will not help for the spams.

Good thing is she finally got something to drink. It was horrible to hear her begging and crying to me for WATER, and I could not give her any.

I sure wish I'd have listened to the Doctor I work for and allowed her to write me a RX for Xanax...lol

thanks all for your good wishes, and prayers.

it's never too late for xanax!

Best wishes - are we allowed to be curious what the surgery was? ;p

The Shriner's Hospital in Shreveport is amazing.

And people think all we do is drink, wear sweet hats, and drive funny cars.

Tricia had the growth plates in her left leg, stunted(they put plastic clips around the growth plate), she had her right femur derotated at the hip, and it is now held in place with a metal plate and screws, she also had half of her hamstring muscle stretched and re-attached to an alternate location, she had heel cord lengthening surgery.

This may sound funny..but I cried when she wiggled the toes on her right foot, she was never able to do this past her 2nd year of life. Her toes wiggled!

Toe wiggleage is an awesome thing. I'm so happy for you that she came through the surgery and feels good enough already to be cranky!

Will continue to send good thoughts your way.

Wow, that's a lot for a kid to go through. She sounds like a tough kid though.

I'm glad she's alright, and thanks for reminding me to watch Kill Bill again. :-)

That's why you let them marinate over night.

Just a quick update. We are home for five weeks of healing time. Today was an excellent day. No fourty minute fights to get her from the chair to the walker to the potty. She actually used her walker to walk the full length of the house twice, because she WANTED to. It is hard seeing her struggle, but she's doing so great.

We start some physical therapy tomorrow, thankfully I don't have to do it myself at home! I know she is going to be tuckered out, but she has ther RX for Lortab and Valium for when we are done(they are using the 6mg of Valium to control the muscle spasms the lengthening and replacing of certain muscles cause).

I had the growth plated destroyed in my right knee, to stop the growth of my leg.. I was about 14?ish so I'm about 2 cm shorter than I should be.

I was born with a leg fuckup - essentially my left calf was attached to my left thigh - they had to cut it apart. Somehow, my left thigh muscle never grew, so I cant do a lot of things with my leg (i.e. kick a soccer ball/lift my leg if I'm on my back/etc). I have limited feelings in certain areas of my leg, and it just plain ol looks funny when I'm nekkid.

I think there's a pic on here somewhere to prove it. hahahah.

Glad she's doing well. Best wishes!!

When I had my surgery on my knee, on the way home from the hospital my mother asked me if I wanted anything, I said I was starving and I wanted something to eat, anything - we stopped at mcdonalds even though she thought I would puke it up because of the drugs they gave me, but somehow I was able to eat a whole meal biggie sized without problems.

Funny the shit you remember when you're young.
