Heraldry of the Houses 10/8/2009
GS4-STANDARD: This information is of interest to GemStone IV Standard players.

Time: 9 PM Eastern

Location: Ta'Illistim, Library Aies, Hall of Lore

General Info: Lady Hiraani Gael Illistim will be in attendance to design and decorate elven heraldic items in the Shining City. She recommends you read the tome located at: http://www.play.net/gs4/info/tomes/elven_history/heraldry.asp , as she will only be working on pieces in that theme. Your crest may be placed on a weapon, shield, clothing or jewelry item, but will be of a "showy" nature.

--------------------------------------------------------

So I checked into the tome and wow is it detailed... Has anyone had this kind of work done before? Any tips on what to prepare for?

I've gotten two versions of a crest done, both on signet rings. The first is meant to show the crest itself, while the second was made for imprinting the crest on wax seals. I designed the first, and Thandiwe did the second. Both read in Elven, "Ever Present, Never Seen."

You tap a smooth vaalin signet ring in a blazestar-set silver illthorn box.

Spiraling gold filaments wrap about a malachite cabochon set within the bezel, inlaid with a polished onyx rose. Three stylized, swirling lines embrace the crest, leading toward a sapphire rose twining through the blades of an opened hematite fan. Twin channels of imflass water coil about an engraved illthorn staff to the left, balancing the silver gauntleted fist swathed in ruby-hued marbrinus. Elegant gold script bisects the crest between arch and vale to form the statement.
There appears to be something written on it.

You tap a rose-etched faenor signet ring in a blazestar-set silver illthorn box.

Delicate craftsmanship folds the faenor band into a slender ring with a flat, wide disk incised with a variety of stylized symbols. Swirling lines embrace the rose of Nalfein before dancing away towards a rose that is twined through the blades of an open fan. Twin water symbols coil about an intricate staff and balance a gauntleted fist wrapped in a cloth sheet. Minute traces of wax cling to the missive that forms a circle about the imagery.
There appears to be something written on it.

I was just giving you examples of a crest used in an alter. I don't see why she wouldn't do armor, if it incorporated a crest.
