IS there a minimum amount of ranks in brawling i can get and still keep the defense bonus you get from brawling. I like the added bonus since i do OHC but the weapon class does do enough damage for me. rather have an OHE...

Well, no, not really, as the bonus to defense keeps going up as the weapon training goes up. Yet due to diminishing returns, the bonus begins to cap out at +1 per level (if you 1x, +2 if you 2x) after 40 ranks.

I've found it best to find one attack form and stick with it. 1x Brawling 1x shield and 3x spells (or close to it) has been the most effective and quickest for me. Can I ask why you like edged weapons? I agree that brawling sucks as an attack form, but I think you'll find yourself casting alot more than swinging an edged weapon. That's alot of training points to dump into edged and combat maneuvers just to be able to swing occasionally.

well right now im a brawling/ohc cleric. but i get bored casting at things. so a nice 7x falchion to the head of a critter seems fun... plus i have 3 spells to give me a godly swing. 211 215 117 and access to a wizard for 509. it wouldnt be that big of a deal to switch. but if i lose my defense bonus for OHC i wont do it.

Without brawling, you will lose your DS bonus to OHC.

I personally took 10 ranks of brawling for my cleric. This helps immensely when getting disarmed.
