Any reason beyond the obvious of using scrolls that a 62 rogue really needs this? Just recently got a character back that i sold years ago and they have em trained 24 times in it . Wasnt sure if there was another reason besides using scrolls .

It's needed to detect a certain trap (glyphs?) when locksmithing. Also needed to be able to get to the moon.

Each rank is also equivellent to 1/2 a rank in the appropriate spell circle for purposes of duration, so the more ranks, the longer the spells you cast with it last.

(For squares) I found focusing on training in MIU is more beneficial due to bigger assortment of items available to use (pure potions, statues, imbued wands, etc).

That is instead of going 50/50 between MIU/AS.

I personally got at least 25 ranks of each for every character I ever played. Just like Swim/Climb, they're just useful skills.

They are both useful skills. I just see, as a square, concentrating your TP's into what you use more often, and for me those are items (statues, pure potions, imbedables, etc). Having an increased duration from one rub of an item (more MIU skill) I think is more beneficial.

But, I agree that at a minimum you should train in both since they effect spellburst and other aspects of the game.

Arcane Symbols will also help you disarm scarabs on the ground, if you're a locksmith. Once you have a sufficient amount of disarming ranks, though, it becomes less important for that.

It will help you hide, ambush, pick locks better, and increase your AS by OVER 9000!

I agree that what to train in is something of a matter of what you have. Also, if you have some really high value items, you might want even more ranks to get more bang for your TP buck so-to-speak.

For example, if you're routinely using an item with say, elemental targeting, you might want as many ranks of MIU as you can get.

I agree with Methias, you want an AS over 9000, in fact over 90000!
