My empath will soon be coming of age, and I'm wondering about opinions on skinning. At present he is 3x FA 1.5x Survival. Is 3x pointless? Should I make it an even 2x/2x?

Tending, for an empath, is pretty useless. All first aid is good for is to lower your roundtimes with herbs. First Aid is also not very important for skinning anymore.
So I guess it depends on what you're training FA for.
It depends on how important you use the other FA abilities such as tend and herb rts.
I would 2x 2x just because they are a 1:1 ratio on the skinning level and would most likely save on TPs.
On top of lower swamp RTs with survival and less reaction to the cold.

Erm, dunno what you're talking about. FA is equally weighted with survival in regards to skinning.
Must not keep up to date with the changes.

The only recent changes to skinning I'm aware of, is the nerfing to the value of the skins themselves. The skills are the same though.
Right, I said 1:1 I was refering to the other post made.
In testing they never told us the numbers and surv was suppose to play a role more than FA, hence the bitching about it.
I would shoot for 2x/2x to save the TPs.

Maybe I've just heard an incorrect rumor, but doesn't FA also help bone shatter? If so, maybe the 3x is worth it. My empath 2x's it though and .5x's survival.

Yes, FA increases the crit threshold (or whatever Nakiro calls it) for Bone shatter and Tayre is 3x in it and you should be too.
