Ya, but you still have to BUY the digital cards... I have hundreds of dollars of cards I bought when I was a kid. I don't get any of those... ><
I wish they set up a real card logging system or something... You mail them all your cards, they add those cards to your account, then alter the cards somehow (like clipping the corners or something) and send them back... And make it impossible to trade those online cards.
I'd probably start playing and slowly adding to my online collection. But I just can't justify buying digital cards...

If you collect any(recent) set of cards online, you can redeem them for physical copies. If you enjoy playing draft or sealed, it is easier to build up a usable collection to play at least T2 with.

I haven't played MtG since Fallen Empires came out. I only had Limited (Alpha/Beta), Unlimited, Revised, Antiquities and Arabarian Nights! I feel dirty remembering, but I sold them all when they were worth good money still. The only thing I let go too cheap were all my Mox. But I'd say I broke even, glad I got out before I was a teenager.

Alpha, Beta, Unlimited, Antiquities and Arabian Nights are worth more now than they ever have been. Hell, even Basic Beta Islands are worth like 2-3 bucks now.

I still have all my M:tg cards sitting up in my closet. But I didn't start playing until right around/before 4th Ed. though.

Oh I'm sure, now. It's been almost 16 years since I sold them all. There was a drop in worth though back then, so I was able to get a lot for what they worth, at the time.
I played for a few months around the time Ice Age was released. Then I found gemstone for free on AOL.. much better deal.

It's still a shame to have to basically start from scratch after all that money I spent getting my uber collection together.

It came WITH AOL, but ya... if you were already paying for AOL it was 'free'.

Yeah, if you started in 1996, it was "free." Before 1996, AOL was hourly, with a base fee that granted you 10 hours. Glad that technology got cheap.

I started playing like the day it turned free...
My buddy was on Prodigy and paid hourly. I couldn't afford it at all, so I just played his guy occasionally. I already had AOL at the time and I remember when he told me that it was now free on AOL... MUAHAHAHA.
yep.. it was shortly before AOL went to a flat monthly rate. I remember collecting those 50 free hour discs from people so i could keep playing.
