[Town Square Central]
This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see some stone benches with some stuff on it.
Obvious paths: northeast, east, southeast, southwest, west, northwest

[Town Square, East]
Here in the center of a broad plaza near the commercial area of the bazaar stands the impressive facade of the slate-roofed Moot Hall, where the citizens of Wehnimer's Landing hold various official, religious and social functions. Facing the square are some of the town's more prosperous shops, still doing business with the many customers who still frequent the streets at night. You also see a large wooden barrel.
Obvious paths: north, east, south, west
You notice the golden eye on your mithglin battle axe go red and close tightly.
>l my axe
A tiny golden eyelid, which is closed, is inlaid into the bottom of the pommel.

Oh, we're doing teasers now?

You center your thoughts as you balance some jade hairsticks on one open palm. With a swift movement, you bring your hands together, twisting at the last minute, like a leaf dancing on the wind. With a soft click, prongs spring away from each hairstick, leaving a sharp-bladed weapon in each hand. You twirl the weapons, feeling their perfect balance as you ready them for combat.

You glance down to see a sai in your right hand and a sai in your left hand.

You balance a sai on each sky-faced palm, then bring them together with a measured clap, expertly twisting them at just the right moment. As the prongs catch on one another, they fold around their respective blades, forming decorative sheaths. You brush a finger along the edges, deploying an almost invisible hook that catches the two weapons together. As you bring your hands apart, you reveal a pair of hairsticks.

With the grace of a swan gliding across a pond, you glide your hairsticks through your waist length chestnut hair, weaving until it is an intricate, braided knot held just over your left ear.

Teasers, you got 'em.

1) Lesser Gigas Gauntlets...

Sparks of scarlet light blaze over the surface of your gauntlet.

You clench your gauntleted fist, and a sudden rush of immense strength explodes through you. It rises up in your throat, and you are unable to contain the primal scream that claws its way out of your mouth. A wave of fire blazes through your body with such potency that it sets your skin aglow for a moment with bright scarlet light.
Roundtime: 3 seconds.

2) Blades of teh fun...

You pick up a silvery driftwood hilt.

You tilt your hilt back and forth, allowing light to play over etchwork on its modwir surface. The etching reads, "I destroyed Solhaven and all I got was this stupid hilt."

You press a cunningly concealed panel on the modwir surface of your hilt. With a soft metallic rasp, a vultite blade juts out of a small slit in the hilt.

More to come.

Not an auction teaser, but....

Gently curving, the cobblestone path winds its way through the gardens amid manicured lawns and cultivated flowerbeds. Several tiny blossoms raise their colorful heads from their stone ringed enclosures and lift their petal-ringed faces to the golden sunlight. Moonlight filters through the spindled boughs of an enormous weeping cherry tree and glistens upon the carved surface of the bench that sits at the apex of the path.
Obvious paths: southwest, northwest

Just a little teaser.

[The Carillon, Foredeck]
Gleaming brasswork frames the foredeck, the metal wrought and limned to resemble curling flora twined about bell-shaped blossoms. The clusters of green-lacquered vines thicken to culminate at the bowsprit, before which a large but lithely muscled shape of carmlin sprouts from the bow to overlook the water. Shadowed by the sails of the foremast, the seasoned wood of the deck nonetheless glistens with care and polish. You also see a long wooden gangplank and a dark-eyed carmiln figurehead.

You are holding a platinum-framed vellum card in your right hand and a plain monir box in your left hand.

>rub card
Swirls of grey and blue paint begin to pour out of the card, twisting and twining as they stretch toward the monir box. >I hope that puppet that the GM (I forget which) was showing us a teaser of is an auction item. Since it seems to have at least as many scripts as the old ventriloquist puppet...

I showed a teaser for a hand-puppet earlier in the thread, so it may be mine! The hand-puppets off the shelf will have a few neato compleato things about them, and can be unlocked for a 2nd level of neato compleato things, and then there's a super duper 3rd tier that only my EG merchant can unlock for you where you customize some neato compleato stuff! It isn't an auction item but it won't be unlimited in nature as far as the unlocking goes. I'm sorry that its going to upset you, but I hope everyone can find something they enjoy about them at some point!

~Naionna, who didn't create the hand-puppets for just Vender, but admits he did inspire it!

Feels very noveltyish to me... if you're on top of things you're likely going to have all your durations capped and mana to spare while resting. I guess it'd be good for "ah crap I went AFK and forgot to leave my spellup script running", but that's about it (possibly post-death in invasions, but non invasion you're going to have the mana while waiting on deaths sting).

I have a feeling it'll mostly be used as a saftey blanket after a bad dispell.

Only thing I care about is bolded.

You swing the creature 'testing' longsword at a glistening cerebralite!
AS: +490 vs DS: +391 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +5 = +145
... and hit for 22 points of damage!
Gash to the glistening cerebralite's right eyebrow.
That's going to be quite a shiner!
The glistening cerebralite is stunned!
Roundtime: 5 sec.
Roundtime changed to 3 seconds.

A forceful squall suddenly shoots through your pale blue gloves, drawing your movements along their intended path!
[Roll result: 134 (open d100: 83) Bonus: 10]
You rush towards a murky soul siphon and connect with a shoulder check!
You manage to knock a murky soul siphon flat on its back!
Roundtime: 5 sec.
Roundtime changed to 3 seconds.

EDIT: Although, if I remember correctly, Murky Soul Siphons are non-corp and the above is a clip of someone actually using Bull Rush on them; that's cute.

Why would you enchant it to 8x? You're going to have at least a 4x bow for defensive purposes, so no need to go higher than 6x on the arrow (7x wouldn't hurt), unless you planned on meleeing w/ them on occasion...

I guess there is the possibility you come across a really nice bow w/ a low enchant (enhancive for example), but it would seem a waste of an 8x enchant slot.

They are corporeal.

From the teaser back in July:

a murky soul siphon (106, corporeal undead) [The Scatter]: An undead entity subsisting upon the souls of the living. Classified as a semi, it uses various debuff spells to set up its foes for easier consumption. Its attacks have a chance to drain spirit and they also make use of a maneuver-based grasp to suck spirit from characters.

The cloak of shadows is a basket of nice abilities.

1x/day Cloak of Shadows? Nice, but not itself an auction item.

1x/day auto-hide? That's a very rare ability. Definitely handy but not regular enough to build a hunting style around. Added bonus of a special shadow-related message when it's activated.

+10 stalk and hide? Very nice. Personally I'd trade the above two abilities if I could make the cloak simply +30 stalk and hide, but whatever.

Active and passive scripts? Very nice. They seem plentiful and well-written. Ambient scripts that don't need to be activated are especially sexy and it has a few of those apparently.

And the fact that it's an actual "cloak of shadows"? Maybe my favorite part. Call me a fluff-head, but that means something to me. It's a thoroughly magical item. You can't alter anything in the game into a "cloak of shadows". That to me is very, very neat. Maybe my favorite part.

I am definitely gunning for it in Plat.

I owned an ECP dagger for a while. I wasn't crazy about it. I only really saw the weighting at work during open attacks -- and who swings a dagger in the open?

This is a nice weapon for a dagger-user who is young and gaining levels, it's a nice step-up, but at cap, I don't find weighting on daggers relevant. Tho I respect that they at least put a ton of weighting on this one. I'd take a 10x dagger over a masterfully weighted one.

I take out constructs just fine wielding two 4x daggers.

Combatants in the temple are a little bit of a pain if you are just going for an eye-shot, but less of a pain than switching to an axe and back to a dagger.

But this is at nearly 12.5 mil experience. This dagger would be plenty useful to a rogue coming up in levels who wants some added oomph. It'd also be neat for open m-strikes against bandits.

I just don't think you can beat a 10x perfect dagger, and anyone with enough coin and patience can make one of those.

Constructs are golems therefore you can't crit-kill them anymore; I'm not sure what relevance that has to a 5x MCW dagger and 10x perfect dagger.

Just for fun:

.0795x (perfect dagger DF vs. plate) + 28 (25 more AS + 3 AvD vs 5x MCW dagger) * .0795 = .075x + 22 (average MCW 20-24).

0.0795x + 2.226 = 0.075x + 22
0.0795x = 0.075x + 19.774
0.0045x = 19.774
x = 4394.

So, you'd need an outcome of 4494 for the perfect dagger to surpass the MCW dagger in terms of Raw Damage. You wouldn't ever need to do that much damage to get a rank 9 and with 2x ambush you should be adding quite a bit of crit weighting to each from-hidden ambush. I think crit weighting is a big deal for daggers.

Just to head off any possible arguments. Crit Weighting is not random; Crit Weighting is static to the weapon. It may be that the range for MCW is 20-24 but whatever number within that range is set to the weapon, it will always add that much phantom damage.

Sorry, I don't know what to tell you. I'm not a number-cruncher.

4x daggers leg constructs just fine for me. Once they are on the ground, +300-400 endrolls to the chest are giving be the maximum puncture or slash wound each hit. I once had an ECW dagger and didn't notice it helping much; I don't think a MCW one will either. If you're getting endrolls that high, and you are already 2x ambush and getting all that related extra crit damage, what exactly is the use of that much crit weighting, or any crit weighting?

But this is with an AS around 530.

I did like the ECW dagger for open aimed shots to griffins' heads, so I could knock their perception down enough to hide and kill them.

The pertinent question would be then why use a dagger at all? Mechanically it's plain stupid at this point.

You can crit kill constructs. I kill them all the time. It just takes several hits. But I have them killed before their magic field breaks.

As for weapon protection, with Platinum droppage, you just learn to be a smarter hunter. I don't fear normal non-death droppage at all, these days.

Just to head off any possible arguments. Crit Weighting is not random; Crit Weighting is static to the weapon. It may be that the range for MCW is 20-24 but whatever number within that range is set to the weapon, it will always add that much phantom damage.

That is completely incorrect.

Unless you're willing to elaborate than that I'll trust my data points that say otherwise.

1) Character with zero dex.
2) claid with 40 points of weighting.
3) collect only hits of injuries JUST sustaining a rank 1 wound (5 raw damage).
4) hits vs creature in skin 5 crit divisor.
5) if you ever see a crit below rank 5 from crit randomization then crit weighting is random if not then it's static.

Now, I'm willing to concede there are confounding variables but if it works for a huge number of data points, then I don't see a problem assume that' show it works.

False.

Some changes to damage padding, damage weighting, and critical padding have been implemented.

For the above mentioned benefits, there is no longer any randomization for ratings up through "somewhat" padded/weighted on the ASSESS scale. For items with greater ASSESS ratings, there is some variance in their benefit, but they will never provide less benefit than "somewhat" padded/weighted on a given strike.

This results in an improvement for all damage weighted/padded items (most noticeable at the lower ratings). By and large, it also results in an improvement for all critical padded items (again, most noticeable at the lower ratings), though there are some conditions in which items with high padding ("exceptional" ASSESS rating or higher) will see a small decrease in benefit.

Critical weighting is handled differently than damage weighting and has not been changed with this implementation.

Right. It's something that's always been a given and I always assumed. But according to whom and/or what?

Like I said, all the data points I have suggest it's the full value.

Even Mark/Riltus who is quite the prolific GS researcher seems to think it's not randomized as stated here: http://forum.gsplayers.com/showpost.php?p=915514&postcount=36

Still incorrect.

With the change to GS4, crit weighting/padding (as was damage padding/weighting) was randomized so its random 1 to X where X is the value of the padding/weighting of the item. So a masterful weapon, 24 on the scale, the median weighting of it will be 12 (very heavy) over time. You will have upper end hits and 1s as well.

In the last year DAMAGE padding/weighting was changed to always be randomized at 5+(random 1 to X) as long as the item was over 5 to begin with.

Really how it works.

I know you probably would know Paul but I've swung a lot of weighted non-claid weapons for a long time and I've just never seen anything where it showed what appeared to be 1 point of crit weighting. Although it shouldn't be that hard for someone with a claid to swing enough to show a crit that wasn't randomized down and only had 1 point of weighting. Very interesting, indeed.

Belnia

Why do you think GS4 killed the value on damage weighted/padded stuff, especially the higher ends of it? The randomization. Granted how it is now as a random(6,X) as opposed to a random(1,X) before is much nicer, especially on things with a lower amount of weighting/padding.

Still, I haven't used anything damage weighted, or super duper crit weighted since GS3.

Subject: Another Teaser - Lanterns

Some of the posts about "disappointed" finds or "duds" made me a little concerned with a series of my items. They are specifically a roleplaying items.
So I'm going to post a teaser(even though they are not ready and haven't cleared QC -- which means you will/may/probably find typos and what not -- so no hate!)

l my lan
Fitted with a veniom ring at its peaked roof, the bright lantern is sky blue speckled with silver streaks. Three of the lanterns four panels are completely darkened, while the fourth is fashioned of clear glass. A tiny cage beneath the lantern houses metallic screens that have oddly punched holes in them and a short missive is etched across the glass.
There appears to be something written on it.

peer my lan
Beneath the lantern is a tiny cage that houses several screens. Tiny etchings at the bottom of each piece label them and read: Screen 1- The Handmaidens (Charlatos 21 - Olaesta 3), Screen 2- The Hammer (Olaesta 4 - Olaesta 18), Screen 3- The Cat's Paw (Olaesta 19 - Ivastaen 2), Screen 4- The Mistress of Adoration (Ivastaen 3 - 17), Screen 5- The Rat (Ivastaen 18 - Lumnae 1), and Screen 6- The Dragonfly (Lumnae 2 - Lumnae 15).

Clearly, the different constellations can be displayed by changing screens. You can accomplish this by turning the lantern and specifying the number of the desired screen.

Usage:
TURN [MY] lantern (makes it flicker)
TURN [MY] lantern TO SCREEN {num} (sets the lantern to use the {num} screen)
TURN [MY] lantern TO SCREEN 0 (removes the screen that may already be in place)

turn my lantern to screen 1
With nimble fingers you pull a screen from the bottom of your veniom lantern and fit it across the glass door of your lantern. You notice that the screen is numbered "1" and labeled "The Handmaidens (Charlatos 21 - Olaesta 3)".
read my lantern

In the Common language, it reads:
Screen 1 ~ The Handmaidens (Charlatos 21 - Olaesta 3) - The Handmaidens are Zelia's ladies-in-waiting. They sit, clustered tightly about each other in the night, looking down at the world and giggling insanely.

light my lan
Striking a match, you light the candle within your veniom lantern and close the small glass door.

raise my lan
You lift your veniom lantern into the air and are rewarded with the silhouette of a constellation upon the ground. Details in the lantern's screen make out the gowns of the handmaiden's, which are punctuated at six points by the brightly glowing stars of the constellation.

(Thandiwe raises her veniom lantern into the air causing the light to spill through the screen she's placed upon the glass door. Light pools upon the ground and the silhouette of a constellation appears there. Details in the lantern's screen make out the gowns of the handmaiden's, which are punctuated at six points by the brightly glowing stars of the constellation.)

turn my lantern to screen 0
You remove the screen and return it to the bottom of the veniom lantern.

(At this point, I tried to summon the crows, by doing a tribal dance in the barrows and singing "Heerre crowie crowie crowie. Oosh oosh." That didn't work.) -- Coyoterre

Its really hard to see Drew...because with how deep the GS combat system is...think about everything that goes into it...

Endroll

E/B/P

Enviromental effects (light/dark, terrain if applicable)

Creature resistances

Creature padding

Creature armor or armor like skin

CMAN/guild skills/spell effects (positive and negative)

Weapon DF

The randomization of the weighting

etc...

The list is huge and thats a very small sampling.

So much to consider and hard to determine anymore.

Outside that, MORE weighting or padding is always better, pushes up your median , more chances that you get the high side than the low. Else skip it and go for good flaring armors and weapons where you can see what exactly your doing at least.

I've never noticed the bonus to aiming. What I like mechanically about daggers is they puncture (great for eye shots), they are light (you can carry a ton of different ones with different abilities), they work great with TWC, with a high enough of an AS and a proper ambush they hit plenty hard, they leave me out in the open after an ambush for four seconds instead of six (that's two seconds where I am not being dispelled / warcried / otherwise CMAN'd or put into hard RT), they cost very little stamina to mstrike with during the cooldown, so you can get a nice blender effect going with a bandit ambush if you don't feel like hiding and taking them out one by one...

I don't know, I take out large warcamps with daggers alone, I hunt everything in Nelemar except sentries and greater water elementals with them, I can kill everything in OTF with them, bandits are a breeze with them... they work great.

Plenty of people drool over leet RP items. Not everyone enjoys the same aspects of the game, nor is everyone equally equipped {someone who is already secure it their mechanical leetnes may be one the prowl for something to enhance their characters RP depth; and vise versa}.

The best items at many auctions were the property deeds, those offer no mechanical advantage in the game. If they dont offer a mix of items they get cursed, if they do offer a mix they get cursed. That is exactly how it has worked when they have used portkeys to pick people at previous events.

Item appears and falls to the ground.

After a while, if no one picks it up, item disappears and reappears elsewhere.

But where? In town? Out of town? In buildings? I think they preset rooms and it cycles through them, to prevent favoritism. But what rooms? You can't really go looking for it, because it might disappear and reappear somewhere you just checked.

Really, the only thing you can do is know about it, and pick up everything you see.

The ethereal string wavers for a moment, shimmering as it fades in and out of existence. After a bright flash of light from within the string's depths, the entirety of the string fades into the handaxe, and the weapon appears substantially different.

>l my handaxe
Attached to the end of the vultite handaxe is an ethereal string, wavering in and out of existence with flickering dots of light. It extends from the grip of the handaxe to your wrist, wrapping around the flesh. The handaxe glows faintly with a pale blue light.

You gaze thoughtfully at your vultite handaxe.

You let the handaxe drop from your hand, causing it to idly swing as a result. The faintly glowing string extends from the weapon to your fingers.

With a quick flick of your wrist, you deftly send a vultite handaxe into flight.
You throw a vultite handaxe at a kobold!
AS: +87 vs DS: +6 with AvD: +30 + d100 roll: +98 = +209
... and hit for 67 points of damage!
Left leg mangled horribly.
The kobold crumples to a heap on the floor and dies.

Your vultite handaxe spins rapidly through the air, the blade whooshing audibly with each revolution. As it completes its arc, it reverses direction and lands solidly in your right hand, ready to throw again.

You gaze thoughtfully at your vultite handaxe.

You thrust your vultite handaxe into the air, and it emits a strange glow that trails down your arm and over your chest. The ethereal string connected to it trembles with a sudden surge of power that begins tugging on your very existence.

Wild downward slash severs the kobold's left foot!
Bloody stump, anyone?
A kobold falls to the ground grasping its mangled left leg!
The kobold cries out in pain one last time and dies.

You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.

It is a permanent attachment, which is why I worded the messaging as I did when you PUT it on the weapon you choose to add it to.

Ah, E, must we always be at odds? I'm certain you're a very nice person in RL.

Best,

Is it just me, or are some of the teasers missing from the official list? The gigas gauntlets and that sword hilt (both on the first page of this thread) jump out as absent.

I think the switchblade/hilt will be an off the shelf item..but who knows. There's also raffles at EG.

Kaikala said some things were still missing, pending final details and she'd update the list as soon as.

Allows you to cast V'Tull's Fury (1718 - bronze square). I think someone said it was like once per hour?

Yeah, one of the GMs said that. 24/day self-charger isn't bad at all!

Unfortunately I misread my approval for the fist-scythe and war hammer that I received. They will not have self mana ewave or Phoen's strength in them. I totally goofed on that and apologize for the tease that I threw out there. Dumb on my part

Lol at them saying no to Self-mana E-wave and Phoens. It just shows you the kind of restrictions they put on items these days. For instance, I have an 8x a day Mobility item. They would never allow something like that to be made these days.

Info on the gauntlets:

- They reduce encumbrance like a feather charm, but for a much longer time.
- They are heavily scripted.
- They can be used 5 or 6 times a day and self-charge starting with the first use.
- They have a nice lightshow loresong.

>questions about certificates

I can only speak to the spell tattoo certificates, but they WILL be transferable, up until 7 days after the close of the festival. Any person who receives one had best redeem it before then.

The spell tattoos themselves are permanent tattoos (unless you carve it off!) of the arcane symbols for a particular spell. They operate like regular scrolls but are good for a certain number of uses per day.

Temporary tattoo versions (though not of those spells) will also be available for sale in a shop.

I'm guessing it's Tsin's old place on the western side of the town with the pool but I could be wrong. I have a feeling the room descriptions were posted on the PC a while back.

Some people, Durfin, thinks that property actually belonged to Chazym.

I personally can not enter the property anymore, I believe it was the hedge on the western side of town?

So I am lead to believe that the Teras property indeed at EG, is that one
