View Full Version : It's that time again boys and gals. PC NFL PICK EM

Sean of the Thread

I'll assume the same rules will apply as they do every year here however if anyone wants to make them clear for the new posters or just to set it straight from the start so there's no whining AGAIN (drew) this year.

I most likely won't have time to keep score (I don't think they have WIFI at the county jail) but if I dodge that bullet Friday I'll be working from the home office and taking some online courses so I may be able to chip in some.

Latrin I don't know what your schedule is like this season but you get my vote as you handle it the best IMO and you're a statistic/math freak with emo glove typing powers.

Yeah man, alright.

THE RULES
1. We pick outright winners.
2. Picks have to be in before kickoff of the relevant game to count; hence, you don't need to have your MNF pick in by Thursday.
3. At the end of each week and the year, I'll post various tallies.
5. There is no rule 4.

Oh yeah, and rule #6:

6. Tiebreaker is combined score for the MNF game. In weeks there are two MNF games, just pick one and offer a combined score for it, it's really not that big a deal.

Ya, that kind of irks me. Picking a partial week or a partial season. No pick is a loss. If you pick 7 games out of 14 with 6 being correct, you're 6-8 (42.9%) on the week, not 85.7%.

That's what's been pissing me off every year and I've been soap boxing for conformity on it the entire time.

No pick = LOSS

If you miss a week they're all losses. If the pick is in after kickoff it's a loss.

We're doing a random pool at work. 20 dollar buy in, you get your picks for the year. And it's point based. Pretty fun because you can talk shit well in advance, frustrating because it's not who you'd pick plus someone who knows nothing about the game could get some sweet picks.

My generated picks for the season:

(Week / Team)

1 Chargers
2 Bears
3 Eagles
4 Texans
5 Saints(B)
6 Giants
7 Jets
8 Lions
9 Cowboys
10 Packers

The Steelers O Line might be a little suspect this year but the Titans DCoordinator from the last 10 or so years just left and I dont have enough faith in their new DC to pick up where Schwartz left off. I have more faith in the Steelers running game and defense than I do the Titans and thats enough for me to make my pick.

Ahh I thought I clarified my picks were for the season, one team per week based on our office pool....

I only had the charges to win wk 1.

So yeah my picks were/are:

Wk 01 Charges
Wk 02 Bears
Wk 03 Eagles
Wk 04 Texans
Wk 05 Saints (B)
Wk 06 Giants
Wk 07 Jets
Wk 08 Lions
Wk 09 Cowboys
Wk 10 Packers
Wk 11 Falcons
Wk 12 Cardinals
Wk 13 Wikings
Wk 14 Bills
Wk 15 Titans
Wk 16 Browns
Wk 17 Bucs

Again random generated for our office pool, that's just the list I was given.

No, based on the number of people in the pool we had to have 1 game "thrown out" os it's random which one gets tossed.

I'm still on edge, I should go to bed and sleep it off, but I want to rant and rave but live alone in NYC where they hate both the Bills and the Pats.

I didn't think anyone cared enough about the Bills to hate them. :sorry:

As a New England fan, I had my head hung the entire game only for Brady to pull one out.

Still lost this weeks PC football, I gotta look at some other options, need a better TE and Maroney continues to disappoint, thought with the lack of injuries, he'd step up, but noooooo.

Oh well.

Went 2-1 in my fantasy leagues.

As a New England fan you should know by now that you can't count the Pats out until the clock runs up.

Buffalo--52 points

I WAS CLOSE! They actually scored 49! And at least those fuckers covered the spread. I won some actual $$$ thanks to that.

I hope Tom Brady enjoyed his post-game blow-job and rimming from Jaws and Tirico. Their love for Brady is worse than Madden on Favre.

Seriously. And Jags grew up outside of Buffalo, and is a huge Bills fan. I'm pretty sure it is network standard to fellate Brady though, and he's just doing his job.

Heh, so true.

Heck, most of the New England fans were down on their knees for him.

It was an amazing last 6 minutes of football, didn't know what was gonna happen, I was looking up stuff on the web figuring it was over with that punt.

That guy is gonna be lucky to not be cut today. Has to be a candidite for the worst play of the year and its only week one. If he took a knee, the game would have been over. Run the clock a bit with short passes and runs and then punt.

Sheesh, I was totally baffled when he started the run, and then died when he fumbled it and gave the ball to Brady on the 30 with time left.

Brady -> Moss = TD

Sorry Buffalo , thanks for coming.

You do stupid things when the glow of Monday night lights are on, we all know this that's what makes Monday night games so awesome.

:D

I've got Celephais and Drew with 8

It wasn't the drugs, but I recounted and you must have raided my back pain stash.

Final count ... because only four people went with the Bills, and only one with the Raiders ...

Damn it, Stun, I was about to make my picks based off the games in this thread. I was real confused, I thought the season opener was Saints vs. Vikings, not Pitt, lol.
