Hey all,

As I am involved in teaching Arabic, Islam, and other subjects at various venues, I wanted to share this link to all who are interested..

It is a series of about 15 lectures, lasting an hour each

If you listened to this series you would have a sound knowledge of Islamic History. If you read books written by non-Muslims you are going to get a boring general synopsis of events, with no passion behind the authorship. Then they will often transition into sectarianism and politics and post-Imperial history

http://www.halaltube.com/umar-ibn-al-khattab-his-life-and-times

This is the history of one of Muhammad's (may peace be upon him) closest companions. He is one of the greatest warriors who ever lived on the face of the Earth, second only to Khalid ibn Waleed (who is arguably the best general in human history, if you looked at it from a secular perspective and just examined the war history)

enjoy!

Muhammad was a pedifile, who built a religion based on ideology, lust of mans heart and false teachings. He also comes from the line of Ishmael, not Isaac. Muhammad's teachings were spread through the lands of Mesopotamia and the surrounding areas, which is known to be populated and settled by the peoples of the Hamitic line. (Ham and Canaan cursed for the sexual acts they committed against their father Noah)

Make no mistake about it, there are peaceful Muslims in the world. Islam is portrayed as being a religion of peace and fortune. The truth is Islam; the religion itself taught through the Quran and the Hadith is one of the most violent, oppressed, and brutal religions in the world. Especially true in places around the world where Sharia "Islamic law" is imposed. This is even more evident for the extreme terrorist of Islamic law.

The message of Islam is a metastasized. heteros gospel, and its one that needs to be castigated from the hearts and lives of those who have been deceived and entrapped by it. Idols and Pagan worship is wrong and is one of the many things clearly seen throughout the Muslim religion. Allah himself comes from the moon god of Hubal.

Islam is very interesting to study and there is a lot of information out there about it. As one studies it and knows of the Bible you will clearly see the false teachings presented in the Quran. I've had Muslims come up to me and tell me "The Quran and Bible as almost the same". I have to just bow my head in shame and know that in some cases I know more about Islam and the Muslim religion then most of the Muslims that come to me and say that. I do not know it all but I am learning daily. The answers are clear and easy to find. A very good example of this is read what the Quran has to say about the fall of both Satan, and Adam. Then read what the Bible has to say. You want the exact scriptures I can put them for you, but I feel it's best to let the Holy Spirit come upon someone and drive them to pull that information themselves.

I am a Christian! I have my faith in Jesus Christ and believe his words to be the truth. John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." The only way!!!

Im sure I lost IorakeWarhammer with my opening sentence. Depending on who taught him or where his information has come from. Im sure the defense of the evil Prophet is due to come, or something that makes it alright!

As much as I would love to act out in the flesh of myself and slaughter the masses; my Lord gives me strength and wisdom and uses me as a soldier to spread the truth, spread the gospel, and bring all of Gods children back to him with peace and love. For my God is the one, the only true Father in heaven.

God Bless You!

Amen!!!

My favorite new game (in RL) is to pretend I'm a Muslim whenever I'm in a group of people talking about God and/or religion and politics. I usually win, since most of the Christians who make a big deal of this sort of thing are highly ignorant. I need to start carrying around the Quran to quote from it in these cases.

Oh, and John the Evangelist wrote his gospel probably some 60 years after the death of Christ, which suggests to me it has been influenced by 60 years of proselytizing, persecution, and politicizing of Christ's message. You don't often see fundamentalist Christians quoting Mark, the earliest gospel, you see.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion as you have stated yours. What I don't understand is why you would expect quotes from Mark. Is it you don't believe the words compiled by John in his 60 years?

Mark is a good book and speaks of many things, but most of those things are all found over and over in all the books from John, Luke, Mathew as well.

So again I do not understand your argument. Unless you are not a Christian...

i don't think I need to refute the comment after mine as it speaks for itself..

the marriage of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to Aishah at a young age is an important issue. Aishah was the daughter of Abu Bakr, (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Abu Bakr was Muhammad's best friend. Whenever knowledge would be revealed to Muhammad, Abu Bakr would always accept it without questioning. Not so for his youngest daughter, who would constantly question the teachings and put Muhammad to task on different issues.

She is the most important female scholar in Islamic history

She has narrated thousands of extremely important sayings of Muhammad

The marriage was not consummated until years into the marriage contract, and physical relations, which came later, began only with her express desire

In reality, modern day Christianity is much more akin to Roman paganism than the teachings of the Prophet Jesus. Look at the symbolism, the roman statues of sprites where they slapped on wings and called them angels, etc.. Jesus never preached most of what goes on. Lastly, Constantine did not become Christian because he believed, he became Christian to corrupt Christianity, which was growing in momentum and strength. If you can't beat em, corrupt 'em. Right? A good book:

Islam is the religion of the future by Syed Qutb

But the purpose of my post was not to spark a debate, but rather to provide a good resource for insight into Islamic history for anyone interested, whether for secular or religious reasons.

notice my original post was intended to provide some information about history.. the intention was not preaching at all.. but you are preaching Christianity in your post. imagine how much people would laugh if I had posted:

OMG!! ISLAM R KOOL!! CHRISTIANS R EVIL!! ISLAM ONLY!!

that's essentially what I'm drawing from your post..

lastly, the Prophetic statements and teachings of Jesus are poorly reflected in the current Christian doctrines. the record keeping is corrupted and flawed. where is the Aramaic versions of the Bible? you are reading it in English and calling it God's word? WTF?? heh..

Sigh. You're being antagonistic and I'm not even Christian, but here:

There are two issues here: Angels and Constantine's conversion. To start with, no serious scholar of Christianity would give either serious credence as a facet of Christian belief. Having an Islamic writer call Christianity to account for them would be like accusing a camel of having bad fashion sense for wearing a blue and mauve saddle blanket. (Look, I used a desert simile.) But even if we were to approach these two issues in serious terms, we have to revise what Qutb spews out here. Angels are simply a metaphor of God's power to affect change on Earth, and they provide a useful image for those who may not be able to comprehend the immensity and formlessness of God. As for Constantine, he converted to Christianity according to legend because he had a dream the night before a battle in which God told him to raise the Cross as his ensign. He did and won and then converted. The actual truth is probably a little different. According to Eusebius (http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/conv-const.html), Constantine converted because logic told him that the Christian God would be the most useful aid in battle.

Are we done yet?

BriarFox

Oh, and as for the underlying issue in Qutb's book, the adherence to the teachings of Jesus, I fail to see any argument to counter. It's just an assertion. The entire New Testament, especially the gospels, lay out Jesus's words and life, and they're the focus of pretty much every sermon I ever went to as a kid.

IorakeWarhammer

well Qutb didn't use what I said but his book actually lays out a history of the early Christian church and how the record keeping was flawed

Hmmph.

There are fanatics to every faith. It seems to me though, that there is only one religion that is oppressing its people in the Middle East. Islam seems to be going the natural route of religions from that area. Right now they are at about the point that Christianity was at 800 years ago in organization, militarism and extreme mentality.

That said, in the past I have worked with and cared for some really great people from Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. All were moderates who felt the need to immigrate for their own safety.

Most of their situations are rooted in womens issues. The family from Iran came here to make a better life for their three daughters. The woman I know from Pakistan came here so that she would be able to live alone and have a life of her own... safely. Of all the Saudis I know I never spoke to any of them much about it but one family also has two daughters and are pretty much as Americanized as you can get. The rest are single corporate types that travel back and forth. But every person I just mentioned is a practicing Muslim who immigrated.

*On a completely different note, people who convert to Islam right now should be looked at very carefully. Not Islam itself, but the current ideals that make it a popular battle cry will have the crazies gravitating towards it, as history shows has always happened.

Your comment, "West Bank, anyone?", deserved the response given. You failed to read the sentence well enough.

So somehow, you extrapolate from my commentary regarding your lack of reading ability that I'm okay with inter-religious persecution? There's two ways to go there:

First option, you're petty as fuck and just went out of your way to try and defame me.

He still digs humanity, but it bothers Him to see the shit that gets carried out in His name - wars, bigotry, televangelism. But especially the factioning of all the religions. He said humanity took a good idea and, like always, built a belief structure on it.
I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant.

article about Yemen's political history. an amazing read.

it also sheds some light on why Anwar al-Awlaki was demonized in the US media. he is a US citizen of Yemeni descent that gave the lectures mentioned by the OP.

here's some clear reasons on why they had to get rid of him:

1. he's from Yemen, the southern region where the anti-government Sunnis are gaining momentum

2. he refused to take part in the conflict vs. the Houthis, a Shiite group in the North of Yemen. many Sunni jihadists on the Arabian peninsula were funneled into fighting against these Shiites by covert Government operatives in Saudi Arabia

3. he was a vocal critic of US policies in Somalia, Pakistan, Iraq, etc, and he was raising awareness about their latest tactics of divide and conquer

4. he was gaining worldwide support for his anti-imperialist ideas, and his strong, independent voice

Here is one of his best lectures on the topic. He is definitely "talking tough" in this lecture.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5764998468642615385#

anyway, the article is a great read and is a fairly objective look at US policy in the region. Imam Anwar is not mentioned, but rather I am speculating on his usefulness to the United States' propaganda campaign.

*I CHALLENGE YOU TO LOOK AT THE EVIDENCE AND READ THE ARTICLE / LISTEN TO HIS LECTURE BEFORE SPECULATING ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE!!*

Also, I wanted to ask. What do you Republicans, especially Libertarian leaning ones, feel about the fact that Anwar al-Awlaki was killed by an illegal airstrike without trial? It is ultimately the Obama Administration that is responsible for this gross violation of the constitution.
