So I cut myself at work a few days ago on two fingers, and I just tossed bandaids that we have on both fingers.. Two days later, where the adhesive was on my skin, I have a funky outbreak of some sort. It kind of looks like eczema, or poison ivy, but it's clearly where the adhesive was.. you can see exactly where the bandaid was and was not...

Anyway, it itches like a mother fucker and wont go away after a few days. I have put hydrocortisone on it without much success..

Any other ideas?

Benedryl could be a allergic reaction.

Sounds like you have an allergy to either the latex in the bandaid or the adhesive. I second the use of Benedryl for the rash. I also recommend using sensitive skin bandaids in the future.

My cousin, one of those professional blood drawing people (phlebotomist?) is allergic to latex. It can suck.

Wimp. Real men in the kitchen don't use band aids. Cut the finger off of a glove and tape the fuck out of it.

But yeah, Benadryl and go from there.

Some people are professionals and use the bandaid-finger cot route.

Will try benedryl later after work :)

Hopefully not AIDS, I might be a terminator, and it'd suck to be the flesh eating disease :(

Try Domboro's (might have fractured the spelling) Solution. You can buy it in most drugstores, just ask the pharmacist. A little pricey but it comes in packets of powder and the packets keep forever. It works great on skin irritations, I use it on cats with hot spots all the time. I've used it on myself with great results, too.

Just make up the solution, then soak a gauze pad with it and hold it on the affected area. With fingers you could probably just soak them in the solution. Pat dry (no hard rubbing) then leave the irritation exposed to the air.

If that doesn't work, get a tube of Panalog from your friendly neighborhood vet. But the Domboro's should have you feeling better fast.

Real men in the home kitchen, I hope. Bandage it and glove it at work.

If you are bandaging it and covering with a glove, any hand perspiration going on? That could cause chafing or something, I guess. Should definitely try some latex-free band-aids, if you're not already.

I'm also hearing the Rezillos' "Bad Guy Reaction" sung as "Bandaid Reaction" thanks to you.

I tend to have a similar reaction to bandaids. It goes away after a few days, nothing extraordinary needed.

I also find glycerine works wonders on any skin/irritations/chaps/etc I have.

While you're at the vets, asking for an amp of Ketamine is also a plus.
