With the beginning of the season at hand, I thought it'd be fun to see what everyone's predictions would be for the BCS top 5.
My predictions:
1) Florida
2) Boise State (guess we got an early look at them)
3) USC
4) Alabama
5) LSU
You might notice the lack of any Big 10 teams in that list. That's because I don't follow division 2 football.

Yeah Boise State wins one game and are pretty much guaranteed a BCS Bowl. LSU loses the SEC Championship game to Florida and annihilates Boise State in the Sugar Bowl.

I can go with that. Hands down Florida is going to take it all.

It's hard to bet against Florida, but I just don't see it again. They are the best team in the nation, but I don't think they'll run the table.
Also lol @ Corso picking Washington over LSU today.

2. Oklahoma
3. Alabama
4. Boise St.
5. Ohio St.
Buckeyes gonna be better than people are giving them credit for this year, I think. I could also see Notre Dame weasel their way up this list thanks to the creampuff schedule. The QBs are the reason #1 and #2 stay the same this year.

Yeah, they looked real tough today.

Nah, almost did. Ended up going to USA to stay closer to home and work. Then I ended up just working. Nobody in my family ever went to UA, as far as I know. A lot of us did go to USA, and USA is playing their first-ever football game this week, but I think they're in, like, Division 6000. So it's not like you could root for your alma mater, you just rooted for your state instead.

Tough to bet against Florida this year. I knew the navy game would be tough because they would be looking ahead. Plus how much time do you really want to spend practicing the option? In hindsight, perhaps a little more. :scared:

Well, Navy has only been the best rushing school in the country for the last four years. Them playing a good game shouldn't have been a shock at all. They run a great option.
As far as predictions...
1. Florida
2. Penn State (I hate the Big 10 though)
3. Oklahoma (This obviously depends on how badly Bradford is hurt)
4. Virgina Tech/Alabama
5. Notre Dame (POS schedule and what looks like a decent squad this year)

That puts bobby 18-21 vs canes I think? If it wasn't for that fucked up xp it would have kept the many 3 point game losses/wins as well.
Anyways rocking game. I can see my die hard gator alumni fan sister sitting in the stands with her FSU alumni hubby either giving him hell all the way to the car or drying his eyes with compassion hehehehe.

Yeah, me either. I think Alabama has the chance to beat FL this year. But I really can't say right now with how little I've seen Alabama's QB play. He did adequate against VT, and their defense is probably in the top 10.
That puts bobby 18-21 vs canes I think? If it wasn't for that fucked up xp it would have kept the many 3 point game losses/wins as well.
There is something pretty flawed with that statement and I see several people saying it. If he didn't fuck up that xp then we wouldn't have gone for two later and get it. We would have tried to keep it a tie.
Man that was a good game though, dissapointing we lost but it was fun to see a good FSU offense for the first time in many years. As for our defense we have some good line backers but are backs are horrid (though I have to give credit to the UM offense as they did do a lot even when we wouldn't make crucial mistakes).
Edit: I keep saying we, I am an LSU fan first but I went to FSU so I like them as well

OSU kicked the crap out of Illinois, but the game was unpleasant to attend. My girlfriend was freezing to death in pouring rain, so I took her home after the first touchdown in the second, when it was 13-0. I caught the first half of Florida/Kentucky at the bar. Have to go see how that ended. It was pretty pathetic when I was watching (31-7 before the half).

Auburn's offense looks nice. Year's already turning out better than the rebuild-year I was expecting. October is an SEC-filled hellhole for us, though. UT, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, and Kentucky. Once Mulzahn and the offensive crew get their recruits in here, we might be 2004ish. Number 1, 2, and 3 running backs have Auburn in all of their top 5s.

They have no updates and will probably hold it close to their chest anyways. Florida is on a bye week going up against 4-0 LSU in two weeks. Huge game.
Concussions resulting in unconsciousness are usually the worst. Grade 3? Anyways he got double whammy'd with the hit to the head that slammed the back of his head into his teammates knee.

Exactly why I put them at 2. They'll play a BCS game and win, getting a number 2 rank. Florida playing USC to get USC a 3 rank is looking out of it though. Smoked by the defense, really. The only special teams play that mattered was Smalls' 96-yard kickoff return for a TD. Wisconsin had the ball for 2/3rds of the game, but couldn't do much with it. Half of the 13 points came from a trick play on a field-goal attempt, too, that was set up by an interception off Pryor.
Not to say that OSU's offense didn't suck it up big in that game. One good drive the whole time. Hope they do better against Purdue today, but then, how couldn't they?

That was a bogus game, Arkansas couldn't finish and the refs kept Florida in it.

Meh, their backup is more of a passer which will suit them fine.
What's going to make Florida suffer is the loss of Brandon Spikes. That man can play some ball.

They'll have to redo a shitton of their offense. Without Tebow in they lose that bull of a runner when you need to really grind out some yards and the clock. That final drive of the game wouldn't have happened without Tebow in.

The offense needed to be redone, anyways. The Gators have like three of four RB's that can step in and handle that.

Props where props are due. Auburn got an A-1 asswhooping by LSU.
I've seen 3 really, really bad games from us over the times. 2003 USC, 2008 Iron Bowl, and this one. Utterly terrible.
That said, LSU looked really good.
Iowa almost ate ass. Last play of the game, ftl.
I didn't get to see the UT-UA game, but I heard a lot of it on the radio at work. That and my fiancee (UT grad) fed me updates. UA quite looked [sounded] like ass and almost fucked around and got that ass beat.
Interesting to see who loses votes this week.

Hopefully the LSU offense is beginning to click and they can make a run for the SEC Championship. They've been consistently inconsistent this year so who the fuck knows. They definitely have the talent, and a shit ton of it.

My bold prediction for next Saturday. An Ohio State victory.
Against New Mexico State, I hope so. On the good side of things, Pryor looked a LOT better against Missouri, and they're not a bad team: 239 yards passing, with 2 TDs and 1 interception. 104 yards rushing with 1 TD. And that's for 509 yards of total offense.
Skeeter
10-25-2009, 04:20 PM
New Mexico is even worse than purdue. But at this point picking OSU to win any game is a bold prediction. Hard to tell which Pryor will show up.

Northwestern, Ohio State, and Minnesota left - Ohio State should be the only tough one, but true to form, we'll be down by 10 or so at the start of the fourth and pull out the win with less than a minute left in at least two of the games.

There's some big story about a former soldier saving a hurt eagle, he took the eagle to a big home game. We were down then rallied. Near the end of game, the eagle took off and flew around the stadium a few times. Everyone was yelling "War Eagle" because... that's what it was. Auburn won, the eagle died in the middle of the field. Thus it was born.

He hadn't caught the ball when the left foot was down. The right foot was probably in but with the call on the field being no catch I don't think not overturning it was a horrible call. Agree that is was probably a pick though.
