Dear Xbox Live User Marty020122,
I would love to play you in Madden 2009, where you can't gimmick with Vick.
It is not realistic in the game of football to run 3 wide (all on streaks), 2 rbs (both on flats), from the shotgun with Mike Vick. Every play.
It is not realistic to roll Vick out to the wide side of the field every play and either (1) throw to the RB in the flat or (2) run with Vick.
It is not realistic to run the same play for 2 pt conversions every time you score.
It is not realistic to onside kick after every time you score.
I'm glad I didn't lose to your little faggot ass gimmicks, but I am annoyed that I had to spend 45 minutes of my life playing a game that hardly resembled the game of football.
In conclusion, cake farts.
Sincerely,
I Blame Dar

If he ran the same plays, didn't you stop him after the first 2-3 times?

I only won because I caused Vick to fumble once and he never stopped me on offense.
The one gimmick play in Madden 2010 is throwing to RBs in the flat. It's nearly unstopable. If I run a zone to stop the RBs in the flat, then he would go long to a receiver on a streak as they whizzed past my cover 2 safeties.
It got to the point that I pulled my DE off the pass rush and covered Vick myself. I finally forced a fumble and took the lead.

Maybe they will patch it. Do they ever fix balance issues on those sports games post-release?

It's EA. No.

All I can think of is Tecmo Bowl and that bastard Bo Jackson.

Wrong.
NCAA has released 2 patches, resolving quite a few bugs related to tuning.
Oh, and in response to the OP. There are a few things you can try, such as QB Spy/DE contain while maintaining your coverage to keep an eye on scrambling QB's.
As far as HB in the flats, what defensive formation are you running? You can man assign a LB to cover the HB I believe when you get to the line.

I ran 2-4 nickle with a DE sub'd in the 2nd DT spot to spy Vick.

With XBL, it is more likely that they will resolve "game balance" issues than in the past. But EA is known for their BS, so who knows.

Try running a Dollar Contain (3-2-6) and show blitz to bring your CBs/LB closer to the line. With a 2-4 and pulling back 1 DT to spy vick, I'm not certain you're getting enough pressure to create a pocket.
or, you can try a 2-4 CB blitz. If you blitz 1 CB, control the DE on the opposite side, and slant the D-Line away from the Blitzing CB. When the OT on your side takes his first dropback step, delay with the DE, and then loop around.

I would generally do the 2-4, zone coverage, wide-side CB blitz.

That's true in almost all the Madden's and NCAA's going back to at least 2002?
Annoying as fuck and my brother would constantly pull that shit. I had to start running a 3-4 and bring the press on and sack attack with a spread front 3.
A lot of times I'd trick him with a corner blitz with a 3-4 press and slide my front 3 to one side or the other making him think I was bringing it on (when in fact they drop back into flats coverage with one DE blitzing) and he'd go in motion to the other side with an RB streak audible at the last second thinking he was slick just to get nailed by the corner back.
Or at least get a penalty on purpose when I saw him putting an RB in motion rather than him get a a 70 yard TD.
Cheap ass shit.
Might as well put in a Nintendo Nigerian Nightmare cheat code in with the QB spread move using someone like vick.

Okoye was worse in my opinion. He was a fucking tank. Could just stand there and watch players bounce off him for 5 minutes during a play while you went to go take a piss.
