What does the companion GUARD command do? I thought maybe it would cause your companion to attack anything that attacked you, but that doesn't seem to be it. Anyone know?

Increases your DS in exchange for a decrease in your AS, I believe. It's been awhile since I played though.

Here's a sample at full affinity:

tell comp to guard
An earth elemental pounds at you with its heavy earthen fists!
AS: +417 vs DS: +678 with AvD: +40 + d100 roll: +98 = -123
A clean miss.
The thorny barrier surrounding you blocks the attack from the earth elemental!
>Your companion wanders closer as she detects your desire for protection.
>An earth elemental pounds at you with its heavy earthen fists!
AS: +417 vs DS: +678 with AvD: +40 + d100 roll: +96 = -125
A clean miss.

AS: +417 vs DS: +678 with AvD: +40 + d100 roll: +85 = -136
A clean miss.
>Your companion takes up a position of watchful wariness in front of you.
>An earth elemental pounds at you with its heavy earthen fists!
AS: +417 vs DS: +718 with AvD: +40 + d100 roll: +12 = -249
A clean miss.

AS: +417 vs DS: +718 with AvD: +40 + d100 roll: +69 = -192
A clean miss.

So as you can see it's +30 DS, if i were to attack it would be a -30 AS also, until I told the companion to either cease, attack, or if I moved location- that will stop the guarding.

(DS: +718) - (DS: +678) = +40

Was there another modifier here, or did math strike again?

I thought it added 40 ds and subtracted 20 AS, but I might be way off.

Struck and knocked me out. OOf.
