Most are at the "bright" tier of CON loss mitigation. There are a few "ordinary" and a few "vibrant". I will not be replacing any of the "ordinary" ones; it is my intent to sell the top tiers only.

Potential customer here, I have a cleric that I am not interested in training to make chrisms, but when people request one I'd like to be able to give them the option of paying for one. Can you explain a little more what the quoted stuff means? And what is the price? I'd like to be able to offer corpses the option to pay ____ for ___ and I'll go buy the gem but I need the blanks filled in.

Certainly. (Edit: Additional research info can be found in the cleric folder (http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?t=46261).)

When a cleric uses a chrism gem, there are a few features that come into play. One is the amount of experience retention (how much of the experience in the corpse's head is kept when revived). Usually, this is the most important feature to most people, which is why I am only selling 100% retention gems.

Another feature is the amount of Death's Sting mitigation provided by the chrism (rate of stat, health, mana, and spirit recovery, and permanent CON loss). This is based on the value of the orb gem used to make the chrism, regardless of the skill of the cleric. The higher the value, the higher the tier of mitigation. There is, unfortunately, no way to tell the strength of these two factors by looking at the gem. However, a chrism can still be APPRAISEd or loresung for value.

The third feature of a chrism is the ability to allow a non-meditative class (clerics, empaths, monks) to enter a meditative trance. This is done by waving the chrism at a living target. The duration of the effect is dependent upon the value of the gem, and also the Religion ranks of the blessing cleric. You can tell what tier the chrism is by LOOKing at it (the descriptor on the cobalt interior).

From KP:

Depending upon value of the gem used, Chrism gems have different effects on minimizing the effects of Death's Sting. The six levels of strength are:

1. dark
2. dull
3. ordinary
4. bright
5. vibrant
6. glowing

From some research I have done, it seems like the cutoff for bright is 7000 silvers. Vibrant chrisms require an orb gem of 10,000 silvers (natural value, not what the gemshop offers, since that's affected by race, INF, trading, etc.). I have yet to confirm the requirements for a glowing chrism, but I would guess it's 12,500 silvers (I have a 12,000 silver orb that I need to find a cleric to test with). All of these numbers assume no extra benefits from Religion ranks.

All chrisms are now priced at 25k each.

Thanks a bunch. Been wondering about this for a bit. Sometimes people push for chrisms and I don't know, they don't know, and we buy off someone who really isn't sure.

No problem :)

You may want to take a gander at the rest of the KP article on chrisms:
http://www.krakiipedia.org/wiki/Chrism

I should probably try to get my value research up there, too.

What skill combination determines the experience retention aspect of the chrism gems?

Edited: Nevermind. I found my answer on Carabele's site. For anyone curious, the chart says that you need 25 Religion, 15 Summoning and 65 Blessings minimum to make a 100% retention gem.

That's correct.

More specifically, it's the 65 Blessings that makes it a 100% retention gem. The 25 Religion and 15 Summoning are requirements to make ANY kind of chrism gem (and 10 Blessings, too). The number of Blessings ranks over 10 determines the level of exp. retention, capping at 65 ranks for 100%.

Edit: Also, I stocked more chrisms, including several vibrant ones.

Quick update for anyone who cares about the research...i had a 7,250 gem produce a bright chrism, so the cutoff is no higher than that. I need to verify with a 7k gem to be sure.

Yah, I know :( Someone bought out my entire stock, and with Kaedra gone, I don't have anyone to bless right now. I've been asking for days in Landing, and tonight I posted something on the officials.

I have over sixty gems of bright and vibrant quality, as soon as I find a cleric, the shop will be full again.

Celephais

When I went to the shop they were 25k each.

Lumi
09-25-2009, 02:41 AM
Celephais is correct, I'm selling them for 25k. I was selling the brights for 20k and the glowing for 30k, before my recent discoveries about the (in)significance of the modifiers. Now, they're all 25k, but I'm no longer stocking ANY chrism gem that doesn't have an intrinsic value of 8k or higher. I'm fairly certain that the stuff in my shop (when Smalrog hasn't bought it all out...) are the best chrisms you can find anywhere in Elanthia.
