I thought I had just finished taking a perfect longsword to 7x, so I went out to test it and on the first swing it shattered. I scrolled back and it turns out it was only the 6th step and I had one more pour left.

Nothing like pissing away 10 million to learn a lesson. Will this always happen if you use a weapon that is in the middle of an enchant or did I get unlucky? Note it wasn't tempering, I had cast 925 but it was just the 6th step of 7 so it needed another pour before being finished.

The way I understand it is that it won't ALWAYS shatter, but the odds are damn good.

Worth an assist, though, to see if they'll take pity on you. I've gotten lucky a couple of times.

If you have not used your "once in a lifetime" replacement request, this might be the perfect time.

:yeahthat:

A few years back I took a swing at a gargoyle with a freshly-purchased 1x fishspine sword. Shattered right away. I cried my eyes out to a GM, who made me a new one on the spot. Always worth a try. :medieval:

I tried for 6 months to get something to shatter on a gargoyle and couldn't do it.

They SEEM to only shatter non magical weapons. HSB said his sword was 1x so I dunno. I had a char who hunted gargoyles from 20ish to 40ish and he shattered about 3 non magical claidhmores in that time.

As to the OP you never want to swing anything that is mid-enchant :(
