I'm a young bard (6 trains) and I have a billion questions... I've googled over the past week just about everyway I can think of, and found a lot of technical information that really isn't very helpful for me (I do this for fun! I have a day job...) :compbash:
so here are the questions (in no particular order):
1. What are the actual ranks you can learn for an instrument?
2. What are the basic types of instruments are there (there was a wood flute in my pack when I got in the lands so I know there are woodwinds).
3. What kind of instruments are commonly found in shops in the lands? (there's a reason for that question, see next!)
4. WHEN IS TA'VAALOR GOING TO BE REBUILT????? I am a half-elf born here in this town, I showed up a day after some hellabad undead invasion, and most of the shops are in ruins. I can't sell furs or stones or buy anything anywhere except the pawnshop (and the owner just is RUDE to a half-elf - in fact this whole town hates me because of my parents, it isn't FAIR!!!) I can't even redeem my travel token to go to the Landing - which goes to next question:
5. Would someone be willing to escort me to Landing please????? I have a 135 DS in full defense, I have to get the hell out of this place!
please?
:thanx:
With 5 climbing ranks (assuming no wounds or encumberance) and something like 2400 silvers you can do the trip yourself. I think under level 10 you should be ok to decay without penalty if something happens. If you search online for Eiadh's scripts I'm pretty sure that's what I used to do it low level. You just watch the script to climb or search whenever it says to.

Alyias recently posted this in the Ta'Vaalor official folder:
And, before people ask or comment, clearing the streets will take ALOT of work. This isn't the "clear the town in 3 hours with a bunch of buddies" kinda thing. This might take weeks. Yes, that's by design. Cities just can't magically be presto-chango repaired. ;-) I will say, however, that which gets cleared out first is likely to get repaired first. -Alyias
Ugh. I really hate him. And I hate him more for the "clear the town in 3 hours with a bunch of buddies" dig at GM Thandiwe. He wants to redo the town. Great. But he's alienating a lot of people in the process.

Pretty sure you don't need a travel token to use the travel guide. Should be able to do it for a small amount of silver (I'd gladly give you if you need it)

GM drama I don't know about?
Do tell.

The travel guide office in Ta'Vaalor is currently closed. There is the Chronomage, but that's 100k a trip.

I don't actually know, it just seems like it. When GM Thandiwe wanted to repaint Mist Harbor a few months ago, she had a storm destroy the town. A bunch of people cut wood and cleared rubble and then the town was restored a couple hours later in its current kind-of-confusing state. It was a real "clear the town in 3 hours with a bunch of buddies" kind of thing.
I just really don't like the way he's going about this.

I am sometimes both pleased and annoyed Teras has absolutely nothing going on. Ever.

1. Novice, Apprentice, Journeyman, Adept (Master)
2. Stringed instruments, necked stringed instruments, woodwinds, horns, bagpipes, percussion.
3. Most towns have a music shop, that sells regular instruments as above, different in each shop in description. Master
instruments exist, but are rare as hen's teeth, and those who have them almost never sell. Best place to start is http://www.krakiipedia.org/wiki/Instrument_learning
4. Danged if I know. I feel your pain, Sagelynn. I have three 'under 10' chars in Vaalor who have pretty much come to a standstill. Is there a 'cottage' in Ta'Illistim that works like the cottage in Ta'Vaalor for travel guides for young players?
5. Yes, If you really need a hand getting out of there, PM me, I think I have an older char who could escort her to Landing.

Even if Ta'Illistim doesn't have a travel office Zul Lugoth does. Which you should be able to make it safely barring any surprise grimswarm, or other critters sneaking out into Whistler's pass.
You could always go to Ravelin, for selling things. The businesses there are still open.

No, Zul Logoth does not have a travel office. That's why Sunfisters play the "tell the guide to stop and run to the Superintendant real quick and hope we don't get pulled away too fast on our way to Ta'Vaalor since that's the only place that has a travel guide in the EN!"
The Ravelin has a furrier, a locksmith, and an herbalist. (And a general store and a clothing store I think, but those don't count as far as the basic services go). No gemshop, no NPC healer, no NPC raiser, no AG gem, fur, or herb tasks, no alchemist, no movers...
If you have the 5 ranks of climbing, take all sorts of healing herbs in case you fall, google a script, and run. That's your best option right now. Otherwise, shell out the 100k for a Chronomage orb or beg others to help a poor refuge escape.

thank you everyone for all of your replies...
::sigh::
I'm hoping a friend of my mom's might be able to come and get me to see me safely to Landing...
and I appreciate the information and link on the instruments as well...

This. Herb up and just make the dash for ZL and you should be fine.

Do you still need 3 ranks in climbing to make it to Zul Logoth?

I hear different numbers, but you definitely need some, and shouldn't be injured at all. Some people swear it can be done with 4, I've never tried with less than 5.
