May want to note the katana is falchion based, rather than new-katana based.

Unless that got altered with the addition of the flares or something.

That would be a big disappointment if someone converted that.

Let me know when you're really desperate to get rid of the katana. :D

IorakeWarhammer
09-13-2010, 12:25 PM
switched Deron to TWC, katana owns. hate to part with it really.

wife is pregnant, so putting them out there in case anyone REALLY wants them. i know the prices aren't ideal. but i paid more, trust me. wasn't much of a merchant when I acquired these items. I didn't get beat in the face, but didn't exactly get amazing deals either. most prices lowered 15% or more.

Eh. It's glaes, and electrical flares are unusable in Nelemar. And aren't steam flares one of the worst?

IorakeWarhammer
09-13-2010, 12:33 PM
they work OK for me. let me tell you, that weapon is fucking legendary. it absolutely decimates stuff in the bowels. but again I'm an elf rogue so when I ambush things go poof.

the cool thing about the flares is when you swap from steam to lightning and the katana causes a crack of lightning. so the zests rock.

Dude this is fucking shady. I PM you saying I will take the Katana for $275 and you reply with this:

paypal verified. we'll meet on aim and then once you send to drewm14@yahoo.com i'll drop it off to ya. i'm in wehnimers landing (deron) I'll eat the transfer fee for ya on my end. i have a good merchant history if you talk to Khistian, AestheticDeath, Mogonis, etc.

So because I told you I was at work and couldn't pick up until tonight you fucking take another bid? Thats a fucking buyout offer there that you accepted and where would I be now if I had sent you the money?

I also told you I have two bards that I just wanted to make sure they sung to it before I sent the cash and you said that was fine:

we can get a bard to check it before you transfer if you like. i've used it for a while. 10x, oldstyle (i'm trained in OHE), switchable flares, sweet alter. i might fuck around with trolling and being silly but not with merchanting heh.

What a fucking joke.

Bullshit sale is bullshit sale my friend.

i really didnt think anyone else would bid ;p

i think it would be mean if i didn't accept other bids man, come on. wouldn't THAT be shady?!

i'm not at all worried - anyone who has ever done business with me knows i'm good to work with

the original post says MB and not BO and that wasn't changed.

;buries face in hands;

i failed.. to read my original post which said bidding ends in 3 days. i changed that (in light of your bid and on bids on other items) to tomorrow at noon just speed it up for you guys.

i failed.. to think someone else might actually bid. market has been.. bad to say the least?

i changed it to tomorrow at noon since you had already bid. please don't be that person that over-reacts over nothing. remember you are in the ..auctions.. thread. it's not exactly shady to change the plans slightly, when a new bid comes in.

i can tell you'd like to have it for 275$, but apparently someone is willing to pay more. so, you'll need to outbid them.

Buckwheet

Yes I was surprised you took the $275 as a buyout. Read your PM to me. You said we can do the exchange right now send me money.

I responded saying I can't do the exchange right now I am at work, I can hook up tonight pending it sings for 10x and has the flares. You agreed.

Does that sound like auction work to you? No, thats Hey $275, SOLD! Come get it!, I can't working, okay we can meet up later. It was a done deal and then you changed it.

You even admit you took it as a buyout thinking nobody else would bid.

I knew I never should have even considered buying from you, it went against my better judgement and I am paying the price now. Either way I am not over reacting, YOU said it was sold to me and I could pick it up. I didn't say hey $275 on your blade, and then expect it to be sold, but you came back saying it was sold.

Final edit: I even took my lunch break at a coffee shop so I could run my bard to the landing so we could do the trade this afternoon. I was minutes away from sending you the cash when I refreshed and saw you took another bid. You shouldn't be telling people to send you money if you don't actually plan on selling them the item.

IorakeWarhammer
09-13-2010, 01:37 PM
i agree with you that i could have handled it better. i'm at work and i am thinking about my situation with my wife, etc. not in the most thoughtful and clear frame of mind. i am willing to give you 1m in Prime just for handling this in a shitty way, but be a little forgiving ok?! im a good guy. ;p

please do bid if you want the weapon. it owns and it's still worth well over 300$ in my opinion.

so worst case scenario, you can say: "gah, wanted it for 275$, but someone bid, IW didn't handle it well, but he gave me 1m for being a jackass."

best case scenario: "I'll bid 310$, get 1m out of it on top of that, and be a happy camper"

implausable scenario: "this guy always dealt with people in a good way, never had any problems with over 25 transactions, but suddenly he is a horrible, shady, evil man!!"

Buckwheet
09-13-2010, 01:41 PM
No thanks, you can't just pay people off to make them go away.

Just to be official about it, I am withdrawing the offer, just so if the other bidder withdraws because of this you don't think I am going to come back for it.

If you were stand up about it you would have recognized the mistake was telling the other person it was still available and taking more money, instead of telling them hey unfortuantely I did tell this other guy it was sold and ready for pickup, so I gotta do the right thing.

Right thing - Sell to the person who you said it was sold to, for the price agreed upon.

Wrong thing - Screw the person you said it was sold to, and take more money that is now based on you fucking the original bidder over.

And no, I don't want to buy it for $275 if you have a change of heart.

i don't think anything would have been sent without you checking the item. that wouldn't make sense. and had you sent it i.. could have just sent it back. but again, 1m for your inconvenience is available.

If what Buckwheet says is true about discussing payment details, the katana is sold to him. It doesn't matter what he "bid." You essentially declared the katana sold to him.

IorakeWarhammer
09-13-2010, 01:48 PM
i would have given it to him tonight assuming there were no other bids.

look at the other side of it - what if someone bid, and i said: "oh no, it's sold" and then they say "WTF? THIS IS AN AUCTION!! IT SAYS MB 275$ NOT BUYOUT!! U R SHADIEST EVER!!"

c what i did thar? heh..

goddamn it, why do people have to be so fucking difficult ;p

You don't get it. If you arranged payment details with Buckwheet, the katana is his to buy.

IorakeWarhammer
09-13-2010, 01:53 PM
well, obviously i didn't anticipate a 2nd bid, got one, subsequently fucked up having already made some preliminary agreements, we disagreed and now his bid is retracted. i guess i epic fail at merchanting. but, everything is still available, etc etc. current bid for katana is 300$ unless something changes.

Kitsun
09-13-2010, 01:54 PM
Whoever put the $300 bid should retract and rebid to get the $275 price since he doesn't have a reason to be topping out a nonexistant bid.

Buckwheet
09-13-2010, 01:56 PM
This is not bashing you, this is how I auction off items.

I put up an item for say 1m. Someone PMs me and says Hey I will offer you BO at the MB or at 1.5m.

If nobody else has sent in a bid yet, I am free to do what I want with that item. Say a friend says they want it I might just sell it to them lower than MB and do a BO at the same time. Hell I could even decide to pull the item.

Once someone bids however I stand by that person's bid until auction close.

Ha, I didn't bid. I've had almost a year to snatch it up. I don't want it. I hate flares, and I like glaes even less. Electrical flares can't be used in Nelemar, and I'm pretty sure steam flares suck.

I have two oldstyle katanas now, which is enough for me, at least until someone pops up with a shimmering steel or one of the other oldstyle katanas seemingly gone forever.

IorakeWarhammer
09-13-2010, 02:05 PM

this isn't an item for a nelemar hunter. why would you take a 300$ weapon into nelemar that isn't bonded/returning.. ;p

i've had a minotaur warrior disarm it a few times in my 8 levels hunting there. was a pain in the ass getting it back. imagine a mino warrior mstriking you with 430 AS 4 times in a row.. with flares..

eek :)

Mogonis

I wouldn't.

IorakeWarhammer
09-13-2010, 02:30 PM
yeah. disarm is always the drawback with weapons. but Deron never had an issue and i hunted sloppily without even training in disarm or cdef. just pulled out the backup weapon and cut the critter down.

the most fun i've had in GS with my rogue, i had after switching to TWC and using that katana / a 4x HCW handaxe.

LOL what a joke. When I sold my Axe for 150 mill I was offered more less then 5 min after I said sold to the first offer, and ALLOT more ( by 50 mill ) less then 30 min later. I hadn't gotten payment or given the item yet. By your reasoning, it would have been perfectly fine to tell the first guy sorry, someone offered more, you can offer more now too if you still want it.

Face it, it's a shady deal, plan and simple. You can claim something isn't sold sold till it's changed hands, but once you tell someone it's theirs, it's theirs.

IorakeWarhammer
09-13-2010, 04:03 PM
never said sold. simply made arrangements for him to check it out should he win. he took that as it being sold. i should not have made those arrangements. i admitted that was a mistake and offered compensation. you can label it shady if you like, i really don't fucking care. i've never had a problem dealing with anyone until this small mixup which he blew out of proportion.

so.. bidding on it is at 300$ HOPEFULLY my mistake with Buckwheet and the subsequent unwarranted hype doesn't scare him off ;p

Mogonis

just face it Buckwheet wanted the item at lowest cost possible and hes butthurt i got another bid.

You arranged for payment with Buckwheet for what he offered. The katana is his to buy. Period.

IorakeWarhammer
09-13-2010, 04:19 PM
i jumped the gun by letting him know how it would work if he won the item. i never said SOLD. i never received or accepted any payments. we made plans in case he won. payment detail is in the original thread, its not like i revealed some magical payment arrangement secret that was never disclosed.

the game breaker was a bid i got that was unexpected. its in the auction folder. original thread CLEARLY STATES that bidding would take place. if i rejected the bid thats [i think slimier.] so its lesser of two evils?

let's continue beating this to death!

And you may now remove my name from the list.

Buckwheet
09-13-2010, 05:15 PM
Yeah had a long meeting.

Its not worth the hassle to continue with this, but however we got there you provided me a email address to send you money before you knew I wasn't able to do the transaction right away. Which in most instances means the item is sold.

It wasn't sold apparently, and I think that once you found out you made an error it should have been your error to absorb.

I really do want the item, but it just left such a bad taste with me, that I would rather just purchase it from someone else later down the road when I get over being "butt hurt".

The fact that you see the error of your ways and continue to attack the person who potentially wanted to give you cash just also proves your worth as a merchant.

Good luck selling it, and good luck to the person who offered you $300. I hope they get it for the original $275.

Buckwheet,

I saw you saying a couple times that you got screwed. How did you get fucked over or whatever it is you said. What did you have two weeks ago that you don't have today. Did Jaeden steal something from you? Or are you saying you got screwed because you didn't get something in the fashion you thought you were getting.

Now I'm not saying Jaeden is in the right, because yeah he shouldn't have asked for your paypal stuff.

But nothing bad happened to you. I think you will be alright.

You really don't know when to drop something do you?

Not like you care, which is the saddest part about this, but now I to get to add you as the only person in my ignore list. You told me to send you money in a manor that suggested had I done it minutes after getting your PM the item would be mine now. If I hadn't been at work, and hadn't insisted on having a bard sing to this item, I read your PM as "send me money and once I get it we can drop this off."

But I have already stated that several times, and you have already acknowledged it, AND you felt you needed to self post about it in the merchant feedback folder.

My reputation as a member of this community stands on its own, my in game reputation as a merchant also stands on its own.

You talk about how much of a good guy you are, and how much your trolling on the forum doesn't correlate to your merchant reputation, but here you are continuing to trash talk the person who wanted to buy something from you, who you readily admit was a flop, and you just can't "be a good guy" and stand there and admit you made a poor decision. You constantly have to back track and point out that you did not do anything wrong.

And to Nub, its the principal of the deal, and based on feedback comments and others posting in this thread, I am not alone in this sentiment.

So here it is again, go on about your business. I am not going to bad mouth you to others, I am not going to troll the hell out of your sales threads, this issue was strictly about business ethics and trust and you didn't meet my expectations on either. The faster you stop defending your actions and accept that you fucked up the better off you are going to be.

IorakeWarhammer

Nub brought it up lol

Archigeek
09-17-2010, 02:34 PM
I've got no skin in this arguement, but whenever I do a deal there is no vagueness at the end about whether or not we've reached a deal. Agreeing on a price is not the same as agreeing on a sale. I think IW was skirting closing the deal, but no one said, "so we have a deal at x$?" And no one said, "yes, we have a deal." When I want to make sure I don't get screwed, I make sure there's no doubt about whether or not there's a deal that's done.

You can't complain too much about losing out on a deal when you didn't do just that. I understand how you felt about it, but unless you say, "do we have a deal?" and they say "yes" a lot of people are still going to view the item as in play. You can't expect the seller to take his item off the market if you aren't willing to be explicit in stating that you will take the item for the agreed upon price and asking if it's a done deal.

On the other hand, we've all gotten better offers after we've sold something. Sometimes it just sucks, but your integrity is worth more than the price delta. So just as the buyer should be explicit, so should the seller. Vague answers are clear indications that you're still shopping the item around.
