OK, I guess Harry Potter mania obscured this particular book series quite well. I happened upon the movie version of the first book on HBO tonight, and as mediocre as it was, I immediately bought the entire book series on Amazon, review unseen.

Post-Apocalyptic children's books FTW! Seriously. I realize that we are in the decade of post-apocalyptic and apocalyptic fiction, but I had never thought there'd be a way to have it not be completely focused on zombie survival, cannibal survival, bad Kevin Costner movie survival, or black president survival.

Anyway, I'll let y'all know if the series is worth buying.

I didn't mind the movie. It wasn't spectacular or anything, but I enjoyed seeing Bill Murray as a piece of shit.

It did feel like there was storyline missing, so it makes sense that it was based on a book.

I couldn't believe that both Bill Murray and Tim Robbins seemed to be phoning it in, honestly. That was the biggest letdown.

The movie for the second book, "The People of Sparks" is theoretically coming out this December, but I'd be shocked if it didn't go straight to DVD considering the poor reviews of the first movie when it came out last year.

Phoning in?

I haven't seen it yet but I doubt they'll put a sequal in theaters. First one didn't even make half of what the budget was.
