Chaos Bow, Shadow Death.... so on and so on.

Those of you who are fortunate enough to own these uber weapons, show us some of the screen shots of you hunting with them. Since I'll probably never own one myself and neither will some of the other folks around here. It would be nice to see what we will never have....

Thanks!

I wouldn't really call either of those legendary.

Either is quite attainable.

My favorite crossbow, Fiery. Clips are back from when it didn't suck.

You cock your fireleaf crossbow and a cracked glowbark bolt slides into place.
You fire a cracked glowbark bolt at a greater construct!
AS: +537 vs DS: +262 with AvD: +22 + d100 roll: +80 = +377
... and hit for 58 points of damage!
Surgical strike removes the greater construct's left eye!
The greater construct crashes to the ground and struggles a bit before becoming completely still.
The bolt breaks into tiny fragments.
Roundtime: 3 sec.
Roundtime changed to 1 second.

You cock your fireleaf crossbow and a polished glowbark bolt slides into place.
You fire a polished glowbark bolt at an Ithzir scout!
AS: +538 vs DS: +267 with AvD: +27 + d100 roll: +93 = +391
... and hit for 122 points of damage!
Slash across back of hand, tendons sliced!
The bolt breaks into tiny fragments.
Roundtime: 3 sec.

You cock your fireleaf crossbow and a polished glowbark bolt slides into place.
You fire a polished glowbark bolt at a greater construct!
AS: +638 vs DS: +313 with AvD: +22 + d100 roll: +83 = +430
... and hit for 83 points of damage!
Attack punctures the eye and connects with something really vital!
The greater construct crashes to the ground and struggles a bit before becoming completely still.
The guiding force leaves you.
The bolt breaks into tiny fragments.
Roundtime: 4 sec.

================================================== ===

Shadowdeath dagger clips from my TWC rogue:

You concentrate intently, focusing all your energies.
With instinctive motions, you weave to and fro striking with deliberate and unrelenting fury!
You swing a narrow black opal-set stiletto at a dark shambler!
AS: +176 vs DS: +54 with AvD: +9 + d100 roll: +62 = +193
... and hit for 18 points of damage!
Strike pierces thigh!
The dark shambler is knocked to the ground!

Ravenous tendrils of shadow burst forth from the opal-set stiletto, draining the very life from the dark shambler!
11 points of damage!
You swing an onyx-studded black alloy misericord at a dark shambler!
AS: +176 vs DS: +51 with AvD: +9 + d100 roll: +52 = +186
... and hit for 14 points of damage!
Strike pierces upper arm!

Ravenous tendrils of shadow burst forth from the black alloy misericord, draining the very life from the dark shambler!
60 points of damage!
You swing a narrow black opal-set stiletto at an arctic puma!
AS: +176 vs DS: +74 with AvD: +25 + d100 roll: +30 = +157
... and hit for 19 points of damage!
Well placed shot to the neck!
The arctic puma is stunned!

Ravenous tendrils of shadow burst forth from the opal-set stiletto, draining the very life from the arctic puma!
42 points of damage!
You swing an onyx-studded black alloy misericord at an arctic puma!
AS: +175 vs DS: +70 with AvD: +25 + d100 roll: +34 = +164
... and hit for 31 points of damage!
Hard slash to belly severs a few nerve endings.

Ravenous tendrils of shadow burst forth from the black alloy misericord, draining the very life from the arctic puma!
45 points of damage!
The arctic puma crumples to the ground and dies.

Your flurry of strikes leaves you off-balance and out of position.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

I have some "legendary" stuff. But it's all just mega crit weighted stuff, it's not really impressive in the way coreasine or steel weaponry is. The only actually "cool" stuff I've ever owned was the stormhammer and one of the cool stone mattocks that cast quake and have petrify flares. They were cool stuff but nothing really compares to crit weighting for me.

Warriorbird
08-22-2009, 10:42 PM
Oh.... I'll agree on the pure coraesine and steel meriting legendary status.

While cool... I just don't consider chaos bows and shadow death stuff on that level.

Kitsun
08-22-2009, 10:58 PM
They are pretty rare and the name brings up some immediate recognition in the playerbase. Does that cover most of the ground of being a legend?

Warriorbird
08-22-2009, 11:00 PM
Legends you typically haven't seen used. You also aren't likely to be able to have pricing debates about troll claw versions.

Most the legendary stuff is pre web days. The old auctions (often referred to as god auctions) had some awesome stuff things. The voln weapons, the dwarven warblades, thalior's staff... All legenadry in my book.

That and the Onar sheath (which got fucking rape-altered by some idiot)

Kree used his soul sword well after 1997, some idiot attacked him after it accidentally drained spirit from the room at hearthstone in 2003 or 04 I think, have the log of it on one of my old PCs somewhere, Thalior's staff isnt a weapon so doesnt really qualify here. Though that and the Thingul Diamond are likely the two coolest items out there, Jesh's sword is one of the more interesting weapons, along with the aforementioned Sorrow.

waywardgs
08-23-2009, 11:02 AM
What did those spirit weapons do exactly? Doesn't enegue still have one?

Ardwen
08-23-2009, 11:22 AM
Kree's could suck the spirit from any and all people in a room upon drawing, probably why it didnt get used much

waywardgs
08-23-2009, 11:28 AM
ALL spirit, or a set amount? Did it cause death?

Ardwen
08-23-2009, 11:30 AM
from what I saw it did 1 per draw, no roundtime to pull it, and from how it was spoken of it clearly could kill though someone like Kree wouldnt likely use it for that.

waywardgs
08-23-2009, 11:42 AM
So what was it designed for? Were you just supposed to sheath/unstheath in in combat to kill, or did it have some other attack function in combat?

Ardwen
08-23-2009, 11:46 AM
never saw it used in combat, and Kree wasnt someone I spoke with much. weapons that old in the game are often insanely overpowered compared to newer ones.

waywardgs
08-23-2009, 11:50 AM
Difference I suppose being that items used to be designed in terms of what *could* be done, not necessarily what *should* be done. Makes for much cooler items, though.

Also the one I got, 7x falchion, vhcw, self mana ewave.

Also in legendary items, not exactly weapons, but the backpack that picked up your weapon and shield on death, the shell armors, the chaos necklace, all qualify.

StrayRogue
08-23-2009, 01:34 PM
It's a necklace that is only usable by CoL masters. If I recall correctly it grants the CoL powers for free, but can randomly drain spirit at any time and can even contract and choke the user to death.

I was told the COL necklace cast spirit strike and could be recharged to 40 usage by strangling the wearer. Was only usable by a col master. I heard this back in the mid 90s. Of course there's probably a lot of different stories to the various items out there. Anyone who knows the necklace give a little insight?

The Demon Blade was a living demon (or something), trapped within a sword.

It essentially had an endless hunger for life force and it was always making sure the owner of the blade knew it.

It basically worked liked this:

Over time, its hunger level would increase. As it increased beyond a certain point, it got pissed off.

When it got pissed off, it would demand that it be fed with various whispering messages to the owner.

When you held it, it would cry out, and everyone in the room with you would be drained of 1 point immediately. This made it fun as rezzing parties.

This might actually repeat if it was still hungry - it just depended on how much life it fed on and how full the meter got.

If it was REALLY pissed, not only would it drain those around you, but it would start pulling 2-3 life off the owner as well, and would do this not just when you took out, but when you swung it, or when you put it away.

It it was REALLY REALLY pissed, it wouldn't let you put it away, and would keep draining you each time you tried, demanding to be fed.

The last unique factor was that if it was on the ground, NOBODY could touch it and anyone who tried would get 2-3 life taken and a nasty message from the sword. So another fun game was to drop it and watch greed do its part.

It had a pretty big enchantment factor (it may have even ranged depending on how hungry it was, I can't quite remember). It definitely got more happy and full as you killed things with it the normal way.

It would also howl and scream a lot, which was always good for setting the mood.

Fun blade - really lucky I got it.

The steel weapons, from EG'06, are essentially Bleach-styled zanpaktou weapons. They require either Paladin or Warrior bonding to unlock their abilities, and their enchantment increases with each rank of the bond, as well as giving access to a new ability at each step.

The weapons are sentient, and communicate with the bonded owner, as well as being permanently blessed against the Undead (yes, even the katana with its weighting).

The katana has a set of very ice/cold themed abilities, and is a far more defensive weapon. It can freeeze/slow everything in the room, and transport the owner and their group to a special sanctuary. The short sword is far more offense oriented, and has a maneuver-like attacks that will automatically hit the target at a cost of spirit, and a specialized attack that will hit everything in the room at a cost of even more spirit.

In the spirit of Bleach, each blade also has some powered up forms which can be released once the owner has sufficiently bonded to them.

The steel weapons, from EG'06, are essentially Bleach-styled zanpaktou weapons. They require either Paladin or Warrior bonding to unlock their abilities, and their enchantment increases with each rank of the bond, as well as giving access to a new ability at each step.

Sweet weapons, who owns these? Are they bonded to the people, as in, can not be resold?

Are there only two of those steel weapons?

Only 2, unless Naos codes some new ones to the base.

I remember hearing about a sword/blade once.. that was released and its enchant would increase with the wielder without bounds. I heard that it was like a shortsword or broadsword.. some weaker base.. I know that the player that had it quit a long time ago and lockered the item. I never saw the blade so this could just be a rumor and I heard about this during GSIII before the level capping. But still even at level cap that would be +200 to AS.. pretty damn cool. Anyways, anyone able to confirm this weapon or not?

There's also a OHB version of it, I think it was a mace but I'm not 100% on that. It had flares based on level, although I don't recall if it was 2x your level or 2x the creatures level. From what I understand it added it as a bonus to the weapon for the next swing so that you could get it to become a 20x weapon and then stop swinging it and use it for defense.

The mace was the plat version. Plat Jesh owned that too I think.

A friend owns one of the old voln weapons, just saw it in action the other day:

>***** swings a shining white ora chereb at a zombie!
AS: +267 vs DS: +87 with AvD: +24 + d100 roll: +76 = +280
... and hits for 51 points of damage!
Shield arm mangled horribly.
With a burst of intense blue light, her chereb spits a searing white flame at the zombie!
... 45 points of damage!
Right eye evaporates in a burst of flame. Death from shock follows.
You hear a sound like a weeping child as a white glow separates itself from the zombie's body as it rises, disappearing into the heavens.
The zombie shudders slightly then ceases his so called life.

>*****swings a shining white ora chereb at a zombie!
AS: +297 vs DS: +64 with AvD: +24 + d100 roll: +47 = +304
... and hits for 61 points of damage!
Quick, powerful slash to the zombie's left knee!
With a burst of intense blue light, her chereb spits a searing white flame at the zombie!
... 50 points of damage!
Super-heated flame causes a zombie's right eye to explode inward.
You hear a sound like a weeping child as a white glow separates itself from the zombie's body as it rises, disappearing into the heavens.
The zombie shudders slightly then ceases his so called life.

Definitely a very cool weapon.

my favorite besides the enegues light sabre, is the one handed clad-weighted waraxe, anyone hear where this went?

Cheers,

Kree

Michael Moorcock just called it "Stormbringer" or perhaps "Mournblade" and that was a weapon I always wanted and would have and would still use. That is a character defining weapon to say the least. Stormbringer and that brass lantern Tsin is selling (that I may buy), along with a shadowdeath bracer.... Oh. Yes. I did indeed just jizz.

How could you NOT make a magic using rogue to swing that?
