Any of you got it? Is it better then Vista? Does your computer run faster?
BTW, you can get it free from Microsoft until the 20th. (Its a Release Candidate version)

(there was another thread before that one, for the beta, that one was when the RC came out.)
Yeah, it's great. Already ordered mine because of the RC.

If I can install it on my Mac, I'm all over it. IT guy here raves about it and he hates Vista.

Does he hate vista because it's the cool thing to do or does he have an actual issue with it that happened to him (not something he read on a fanboi site)?

I like Vista because I've always had a shitty computer, and was on 3.11 until I got a computer with Vista.

Been using windows 7 for about 4 months now... whenever the first Beta came out. This laptop has been on it since RC1. It's fantastic. downright fantastic.
It might just be the first OS I'll have ever purchased. (other than the ones forced on me - and promptly re-imaged - by laptop purchases)

I never had any real issues with Vista besides the UAC. However I can understand why people might not like it, due to the layout changes and some other things. I'm running Windows 7 RTM (from Technet) on my 1000he eeepc and it runs great. I really like how the new task bar uses icons instead of icon + window name (takes up a lot less space and makes it more useful if you want to stick it on the left or right side)
I'm waiting until my business edition upgrade comes in the mail to install it in bootcamp on my mac. I have a 60GB SSD on there and it's a pain to do anything with vista on it (I vLited vista and by the end of all the updates it took 12GB for a base install.. about 3 weeks later my install image had ballooned to 20GB and I probably didn't install more than 50mb of software on it as I hardly used it). I vLited windows 7 and it's currently hovering at around 5GB on my 1000he.

I'm waiting to purchase my new computrix when Win7 comes out.
It has fantastic Sold-State Drive management and I plan on getting at least a 160 GB SSD and using my external 1TB for movies/music.

No I just don't think he liked Vista because of how buggy it was. He says Windows 7 is what Windows should have been all along. He ends up testing quite a few products to test stability and such for our own products, and Vista was just not something that our developers were anxious to get our customers on.

Eh... you always need a shitty windows product before a good one...
Windows 95 < Windows 98
Windows Me < Windows 2000 < XP
Windows Vista < Windows 7
One could argue that 2000 in there... "Windows Me" was more it's own little island of shit, and XP is more of the product of 2000 and 2000 the product of NT, but Me needed to be in there somewhere.

XP is great but for modern PC gaming it just wont cut it.

Key being was ... he probably gave up on it shortly after launch and didn't give it another try.
Dealing w/ clients who have UAC active can be a real bitch too.

Yeah I've had zero issues with it in it's current state. Although I don't run it through any serious paces. All I do is play WoW and use a terminal client on this thing.
