So here we are on the 4th day of this new system. Who's winning in the demerit collection so far? Don't be shy now folks.. this is your time to shine!

Parkbandit = 0 demerits (but it's still early)

20 demerits for pandering.

LOL. If only you didn't have such fucked up political views Tsa`ah.. I would be laughing with you instead of at you.

:P

Is the only way to know you have demerits is to get a U2U with a message?

Or do we actually have a place where we can look and see them (Like Klaive's board where we have a "Warning" meter that increases when you call him out more and more)

Currently I believe U2U is the current method.

I know some demerits have been dolled out already, I just don't know if Kranar is informing offenders of the count.

I would assume he is.

PB has 49 demerits.... he just isn't aware.

::edited to add that all of the demerits were assigned by Kranar for PB's constant cracks on Canada::

2 people have a violation count of 2, and everyone else is at 0.

If your violation count goes up, you will know.

I insult people out loud.

I'm not sure why I don't have demerits.

Oh, probably because I'm sarcastic and just poking fun.

<---- Has 10 demerit points.

How fast do these things go away?

imported_Kranar

At this point, your count decreases at a fixed rate of 1 for every 5 days since your last recorded violation.

This may change so that instead of a fixed rate, the rate increases over time to reward those who haven't been in violation for awhile.

So it's sort of like the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles:

1) You break the law, you get points.
2) A point or two drop off after a certain amount of time.
3) If you manage to gain a certain amount of points (say 12 points for 1 wreckless & 2 speeding tickets) within a year, then you get your liscense suspended.

Not that I would know anything about #3.

I suggest we give PB 10 demerit points for his Bush vote as it insulted 3/4th's of the people here. j/k

I haven't seen any demerits given for insulting other people, per se. As long as your insult doesn't speak to a highly personal part of the person's life, or does not insult one of their family members (what the heck did they do to you?), I don't see it as a problem. If you want to insult each other, go right ahead. Hopefully, each of you is big enough to take care of him/herself.

That said, if insults start to derail a thread, that might become a problem. At least, that's how I understand the new rules. :)

I haven't seen them either.

However, if something is said in jest, and the person doesn't get the humor,...

That's how I got five points, even though it was
1) on topic
2) funny, as stated in posts following the post in question

I tried to describe what happened here, as a lesson for others... my "paraphrasing" was considered an attempt to repost, and now I lie at 10 points.

Oh, probably because I'm sarcastic and just poking fun.

It's not about being sarcastic and poking fun... it has everything to do with the sensitivity of the person. If they don't think it's funny, then... BAM! Points for you.

In my case, the person thinks that everything I say is not a joke, and is meant to hurt.

It's VERY LIKELY that this person's heightened emotional state is due to external and personal events beyond my control...

my disclaimer...

I HOPE THIS POST HELPS OTHER PEOPLE AVOID VIOLATION POINTS, AND IT IS NO WAY TO INSULT THE PERSON, PARTIES, ANIMALS, OR OTHER ENTITIES THAT MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE BEEN MENTIONED IN THE PREVIOUS VIOLATING POST

Heh. Fortunately (for a few), everyone started with a clean slate on November 1. I'm sure, however, that those who are determined will manage, somehow, to earn their way back to where they were.
