Onyxia Returns in 3.2.2

She has lurked in her lair and done battle with the many brave adventurers who travelled to that familiar location over the years. Now, in honor of the World of Warcraft 5-year anniversary, the dreaded brood mother Onyxia is being revamped to make a return to the forefront of Azeroth, as part of our big plans for the upcoming 3.2.2 content patch.

This permanent update to Onyxia will convert the dungeon into 10- and 25-player modes. We will be adding new items to Onyxia’s loot table that have the same model as some of the classic loot from this dungeon, like Tier 2 helms, with stats updated to match the current level of content. There will be a special new item too: a normal drake-sized 310% speed flying mount modeled after Onyxia herself called Brood of Onyxia. We will also be updating the encounter mechanics to be more fitting for modern raiding, but we can guarantee players will get to experience the frightening horror of deep breaths once again.

Then for a limited time, after the 5-year anniversary event officially begins in November, anybody who logs in will receive an Onyxia Brood Whelpling pet.

We’re very excited to bring this classic encounter back to provide a fun new experience for both new and veteran players. Further details will be available in the near future, and we will be setting up the Public Test Realms soon to help test out this fight along with all the new content we have planned for the patch. Keep an eye on the forums for updates!

Yeah...i've only ran ZF while the correct level range once, but for some reason I always end up going to wreck the shit out of it after i get to 60/70/80 for some stupid reason.

meh, just seems like a lazy expansion, but if it's free then it's all good but not as cool as actual new content.

i'm not a fan for revamping the old content, i loved going back there and soloing ony's face with my hunter, or like 2 manning rag...lets you really see how far you've advanced.

it'd be cool if they let you still do ony "classic" without the new bells and whistles.

There's two 310s available from the normal and heroic Ulduar achievments, and I think Ashes of A'lar is still around. And I think the gladiator drakes are 310, right?

Edit: That is to say, it takes a lot of work, never before has it been a one-off random drop to get a 310 mount.

if you finish the achievments for the all the holidays that you get a 310 mount. Arena are all 310 I think. I forget them all. But the onyxia addition is not all. According to another article they are totally redoing azeroth for the next expansion, flight, dungeons etc. So yeah Stranglethorn vale on a flying mount! Heheh

Ashes of A'lar might have been a random drop, but it was the ultimate end-game drop, off the last boss in one of the mid-level raids of TBC. Getting there was the work.

yeah but you could farm it crazy easy once WotLK came out and a lot more popped up (still not a lot, like a 1% drop rate, but still)

I got lucky and got the blue drake (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=43953) off of 10 man azuregos

Pity it's only 280%, I stopped using it :( They should do the same thing proposed for druids...druids if they have a 310% mount their flight form becomes 310%, likewise if a player has a 310% mount any mount they have should be 310%. Pimp my ride blizzard!

i'm sure the 10m s3d is more rare. you figure that, in order to get the plagued you had to do 10m 3D, and that was the hardest part. So if you could do that, you would also be getting the plagued. but you have to do it 10 times to get that whole group a sarth mount, only once to get everyone a plagued. (and we all know how many guilds stopped giving a shit about sarth 3d after they all got their plagued)

Yeah, I was the only one in the guild who got one, cause we only did it twice, and gave the black drake to a pug who paid us 10k gold for us to run him through.
