I've had this happen to me once or twice. Though embarrassing, an OOC whisper of "You're going to have to forgive me, my memory isn't what it used to be, but can you remind me where I know you from?" usually does the trick.

I often had names highlighted and wouldn't be able to figure out why.

This just happened to me. I deactivated WoW a few weeks ago and just decided to reactivate one of my GS accounts for the hell of it. Logged in and sitting in the same room was some guy with his name highlighted in red. I have no memory of him at all so I did the only reasonable thing I could think of...I slapped him and hid. That'll teach him.

The problem is when you have different colors for different things. Like, I had this awful puke color for people I hated, but now I can't remember why I hate them.

I've been accused of not being the original player of my character because I don't remember someone from 5-10 years ago. If I don't deal with someone often, as soon as I stop dealing with them, they'll fade out of my memory and sometimes I just can't remember a person. Especially if they're not "real".

I think that's part of the reason I would never reactivate. The idea of being accused of not being the original player of my character would hurt, and it would happen, cause I can't remember shit from my cleric, but I took teh ARE PEE a bit srs back in the day.

How can something hurt if it's not true. Are you really so sensitive that you'd let someone else's incorrect assumption stop you from playing a game? That's fucking stupid.

It wouldn't hurt, like permanently, but I played GS for about 12 years, and put a lot into that character, and I was a goth teen. :P
