Looking for a blackjack based weapon with interesting flares. Disintegration, disruption, steam, vacuum, something like that.

Have you confirmed that using a blackjack provides a bonus to sstrike?

I don't know, I just thought it looked cool.

It provides a massive bonus to subdue, which is very similar.

We just tested it and a blackjack adds a +20 bonus, which can stack with the +10 bonus from sstriking from hiding. +30 kicks a fair amount of ass.

Check quarter staff next for sstrike.

it also adds +30 to kneebash.

It's definitely a "scoundrel" thing.

Funny, because brawling weapons cost 3/1 for rogues!

That's never made any sense and they've never given a reason why, as far as I know.

The reason, I believe, is that brawling is seen more are a fist fighting thing. Or MMA. But the weapon line up suggest the complete opposite. And with UAC coming, I don't think it will ever change.

By the way, the blackjack actually provides a +30 bonus. I was comparing it to a dagger, which has a +10 bonus (which I thought was from something else). Quarterstaff provides no bonus.

Whoa, since when on the quarterstaff! That thing was a wrecking machine when we tested it a few years ago. I guess it changed... :(

I only took one swing with it, so I could easily have missed something. I'll test more thoroughly later.

Sstrike stuns the target for a short period (usually 1 round), and has a slow effect equal to +2 RT (unless you get a huge endroll, in which case it is +4 RT) for something like ~10 seconds. No idea how much it affects perception. Also, weapons flare on it, so it's nice to have a strong feras dagger handy.

Weapon modifiers:
Runestaff: -10
Falchion: 0
Rapier: 0
Short sword: 0
Quarter staff: 0
Fist-scythe: 0
Jackblade: 0
Mace: 10
Dagger: 10
Cestus: 20
Blackjack: 30

I tried like hell to find a blackjack with knockout flares but I couldn't find any.

If you have +30 (blackjack) +10 (wspec) +10 (essentially via rank "6" guildwork) then you'd have to really fuck up for it not to work.

Apparently knockout flares don't work with blackjacks. So says Adam.

BUG ITEM, WRITE FEEDBACK! (lulz)

The point of a blackjack is to knock the target out with a strike to the back of the head or temple (maybe killing them).

Aparently the mechanics of knock out flares make them not really flares at all, as they have to specifically hit the head to operate, making them a script and not a flare. So on a blackjack via CMAN they don't function.

I was sad to find this out as well.

Yeah, it was the ultimate application for the knockout flare. Alas.

Still looking for interesting flares, or one of those plain old 4x saps from EG that I already lost from last year. "a bleached leather sap stamped with tiny mules"

That's so bullshit. :(

Yeah, I have two 6x blackjacks I put knockout flares on just for that reason. The issue is, even though the messaging states it hits head, it hits [body]/[health] with a random chance to hit a certain body part. I was able to get it to flare once after about 400 uses.

I BUGITEM'd at the time and posted. Perhaps another round is in order.
