So, I vaguely recall some people on the PC doing fantasy football in the past.

Is there a PC league. If not, someone got a league I can get into and homer up?

I've never played before but I'm planning on having a lot of time on my hands this fall and need something to keep me distracted.

It's definetly distracting, especially if betting is involved, week by week can be fun.

If I remember correctly, Sergey set up a league last year? I know someone does it every year, if not several people, but I think Sergey's set up usually had the most participants. Good luck.

I'd play.. but I find that if you don't play for something, the league is ruined by week 5-6 when a couple people are out of it and simply don't set their rosters every week.

Sergey used to run them but he got tired of trying to collect from various deadbeats. We usually play for like a million GS silver each, I'm down for that this year.

Sergey runs a keeper league that I'll be out of this year most likely so there may be an opening but there is a buy in and pay outs. (No Bruce I haven't forgotten)

I'm pretty sure they'll just put my player's back in the draft pool. It was a decent team.

I'm in but not if it's a Friday night draft. Weekday night please?

As for site I don't care much, have used both sportsline and yahoo before. I'm already in like three other yahoo leagues so I guess on the margin I'd prefer that since all my leagues would be in one place but I can see the appeal of sportsline.

Regardless, you should use sportsline's scoreboard to monitor the games. Nothing else comes close.

Can we get a consensus here before I go joining a league?

Xanator

Incidentally enough, a separate Yahoo league I'm in was scheduled for a live draft 30 minutes ago. None of us could get past a hung "Now Loading" screen, and Yahoo drafted our teams for us. Commish is going to try to get the whole thing deleted and reset for next week. Otherwise, I'm apparently starting Jake Delhomme this year.

So, hey, we've still got time to form another league, PC gang. Let's just don't do it on Yahoo after all.

Hey guys. Because this didn't seem to be materializing... I've reactivated our last-minute ESPN league from last year. The 10-team league included the following teams:

Rimalon--Inglewood Rump Shakers

Mistomeer Griffin--Team Griffin

Dustin--Team Keller

Bruce--Team GSAuctions.com

Drew D--Bill Parcells of the Sea

Paul--Kookie Cutters

John--Sylvarraend Stalkers

Michael--Tampa Death Knights

Sean--P-40 Warhawk Wild Bill Kelso

Joe Momma--Team In-Yo-Mouth

----

I'll send a blanket e-mail to all of these current owners, but if you see it here first, LET ME KNOW (PM or post here) if you are a current owner and WISH TO STAY IN THE LEAGUE.

All owners I don't hear from will be deleted, and room will be made for new blood.

FOR THE NEW BLOOD: PM or post here and I'll send you an invite.

How's that work?! Last year I WON THE LEAGUE, BECAUSE I'M AWESOME. C'MON BITCHES! LET'S DO THIS!

EDIT: The draft right now is set for 7:00 PM EST on Sunday, August 30th. It is by no means set in stone, though, if we have too many conflicts.

Also: Because I'm frequently bored, this year I'm going to be doing a lot of silly stuff with the league--assigning trophies, posting updates and videos and pictures on the league frontpage, etc. It satisfies me, and is not meant to offend or cause long loading times. I'm not sure how ESPN drafts work. I just drafted a Yahoo league yesterday, and we had eight of our ten managers actually there drafting live. Yahoo sets 90 second time limits on your picks, and autopickers obviously draft right away. We clocked in at one hour exactly.

Completed a 12 team 20 round draft yesterday in 2 hours and 1 minute. All 12 owners were logged in, 9 of us were in one location. We set up a war room in my buddies basement. 9 computers, ~8 dozen homemade wings, crock pot of queso and one of meatballs(meatball subs ftw), 2 kegs on tap and a 12 pound pork shoulder that we threw in the smoker at 7am.

Best.

12 owners. Its a keeper league and Ive had Adrian Peterson since the '07 draft so that helps. I won last season so I had the 12th pick in the first round, 1st pick in the second round, etc. Im pretty happy with the way it turned out.

This is from a 12-team Yahoo league with friends, we're switching to a paid keeper next year. Scoring is pretty QB-friendly, and we start 2 QBs, so these games can get kind of high-flying. PPR league, have to start two flex IDPs.

QB - Kurt Warner
QB - Tony Romo
WR - Marques Colston
WR - Eddie Royal
RB - Matt Forte
RB - Kevin Smith
TE - Dallas Clark
W/T - Bernard Berrian
W/R - Ray Rice

BN - RB Jonathan Stewart
BN - WR Lavernaues Coles
BN - RB LenDale White
BN - WR Devin Hester
BN - TE Dustin Keller (dropped pending waiver claim for TE Zach Miller [dropped by another manager for TE Chris Baker])

K - Jason Elam

DEF - New England

D - Barrett Ruud
D - Chad Greenway

Will be trading for a QB off the bench for bye weeks soon.

How about 50% for overall win and 25% for each divisional winner? Or something like 50% for overall winner, 25% for best regular season record and 25% for most points during regular season? Tiebreaker for record would be points.

Also, like I mentioned during the draft, I suggest we make some sort of rule where people who have either apparently gone AWOL (gave up) or have gone on an announced absence have the commisioner select the lineup for them using the projected scoring for that week. If the commish's opponent is AWOL for a given week, we have someone like PB 'approve' the lineup.

Regular season record means nothing. Ask the 2007 Pats.

I think it should either go winner take all, or 50% champion, 25%/ea division winner. This gives the champion the chance to make 75% of the pot by dominating his division, as well.

Yeah that's why I put that option first. There's at least a 33% chance that a division winner will take the title. I could go for 60/20/20 too.

With 16 rounds and 12 people, got brutal after round 8 or so to find anything of quality and a lot of undrafted rookies who might go places...

Should be a good time...

I picked my D a little earlier than I would have liked for fear that the Dolphins pick would start a Stupid Landslide. I picked mine up in the 8th. But I got the Giants (> Dolphins D).

Alright, fellas. We're officially inside of a week, so we probably ought to settle the payout debate. Our options were...

1)
Winner-take-all

2)
League Champion: 50%
Old School Division Champion: 25%
New School Division Champion: 25%

And is everyone paid up?

Man.

In one league, up by 11 have Rodgers against Jennings and Crosby.

In another, up by 30 against Rodgers, Driver and Packers D\ST.

I'm totally looking for a hood stomping of the Packers right now. I'm talking Complete domination excepting a short Packer's TD on a pass to the Tight End.

Do points adjust after the games are over?

It appears I lost my other league by 3 points, however I've found at least 4 points in inconsistency from the stats vs the scoring thanks to my being OCD.

They can. DEF scores get adjusted after the fact in a lot of leagues. The scoring settings might also be different, as those are generally set by whoever's running the league.

Who has more value the rest of the season? Ray Rice or Mcgahee?

Rimalon
10-08-2009, 03:01 PM
I'd say Ray Rice, but, of course, I'm always wrong. So it's McGahee?

Xanator
10-08-2009, 03:20 PM
I would go Ray Rice here, because he gets the lion's share of carries and is only going to improve. One thing working in McGahee's favor is that he tends to improve as the year goes on. His lack offseason conditioning has been a knock on him in the past. So this year is something of an aberration so far.

Flacco's evolving into a very good QB, Rice is a little more involved in the passing game than McGahee, so you've got that in your PPR leagues. McGahee is getting into a red-zone back type of role, and those are dependable but limited fantasy options.

The x-factor is also Le'Ron McClain, who made the Pro Bowl last year and is an excellent pass-catching back and inside runner. I can't see him staying invisible all year.

So, I got a death match for the top record in the division and my two highest scoring players are on bye, plus I have to play the giants D against the Raiders, which is like a gimme 30 points.

Nevertheless, if this isn't a complete embarassment it should be an interesting game.

It has Larry fitzgerald Vs Anquan Boldin, Medwle (sp) Moore vs Mendenhall and Josheph Addai vs Donald Brown.

Of course, I have all 3 of the lesser regarded players.

And Derek Anderson as my bye QB.

It has all the makings of MAJOR UPSET SUNDAY. Moore is a good little back, made my team last year when Parker was having trouble. Thing is, he figures into the passing game, and this isn't a PPR league. That said, ditto for Joseph Addai.

First big-time showdown of the year, and it figures it's you and me. Game on.

EDIT: And Boldin is less-regarded than Fitz, but he puts up extremely comparable numbers week in and week out. Fitz just gets more TV love. His playoff performance last season didn't hurt. If you look at the regular-season numbers over the past few years, Boldin and Fitz are essentially the same player. Fitz just gets the first-round pick, and Boldin has a lot of value in rounds 2-3. That said, I picked Fitz because there were/are questions about Boldin's health and happiness in AZ this season. We'll see how that pans out.

Zanagodly
10-09-2009, 05:22 PM
wtf, Boldin is not the fantasy receiver Fitz is. Boldin is the possession guy who makes plays after the catch. Fitz is the most consistent fantasy WR there is as he averages just under a TD every game. Mendenhall is going to rush for over 100 again, and you compare Mewelde favorably? Your advice sucks.

Moore will play a bigger role Sunday than he did last week. The Lions won't hang around like San Diego did, and Mendenhall won't take as many snaps or get as many touches. Moore will be the beneficiary of that, and Moore factors more into the 3rd down/passing game role. I'm not saying Moore is going to outscore Mendenhall, but I don't know that you should make the mistake of thinking that Mendenhall is now the entrenched starter in Pittsburgh and expect 100+ yd and 2 TDs a game out of him. It isn't going to happen, even against the Lions. I wouldn't advise anyone to start Moore over Mendenhall, and I'm the one with Mendenhall on my roster going into this matchup, sooo...

Fitz's career high TDs is 12. After his rookie year, he's averaged right around 100 catches in the full 16-game seasons he's played. Boldin scored 11 TDs last year playing in 12 games. He's caught 100 balls in years that he DIDN'T play 16. Boldin hasn't been healthy yet this year, and Fitz has outperformed him thus:

+1 rec
+10 rec yd
+1 rec TD

So in our league, 8 fantasy points currently separates my first-round pick (Fitz) and his second-round pick (Boldin). They're extremely comparable players.

What the fuck Derrick Anderson? What. The. Fuck.

2 complete passes and 1 interception? How is that fucking possible? I could do better than that and I throw footballs like a pussy.

-1 Fantasy points. Worst Bye week fill in. ever.

Then of course, Mike Sims-Walker gets himself suspended for the game so I have to scramble to adjust my lineup @ the last possible fucking minute. Thank god I stayed up till 2am to watch Football. :(
