I haven't played in about 6-7 years. so much has changed
it seems that in the conversion from GSIII my character was trained for me.

how did they do? what if anything should I be changing?
all opinions welcome.

Stat growth kinda hurts, but if they're not letting you change that upon returning not much you can do.

9 ranks of armor use is doing you no good, depending on your armor you're going to want a bonus divisable by 10.

Locks/Traps ... um... get rid of that. Physical fitness is probably worth dropping down to 24 ranks. Spell aiming should either be dropped or 1-2xed. MnE at 26 isn't so useful, either 25 or 30 ranks would be my suggestion.

When "Min/Maxing" by definition dabbling in skills is a bad idea.

You can loose virtually all of those physical combat skills and reinvest them in magic, unless that stuff's RP driven. Pures can carry a runestaff now instead of a sword/board and it's a sweet alternative that has the downside of being disarmable.

Your stats, in a word, suck. If they give you the five stat reallocations still, change those. Having your prime stats already maxed at 32 is going to leave you screwed in some key areas later.

That's all I got except to warn you, sorcery is not what you remember.

to carry a runestaff would I need to train twohanded? I would never swing it, just need the DS.

how can I find out if they would let me reallocate my stats?
right now my CS is 177 how does that compare to others with the same trainings?

Truthfully you need to decide if you want to carry a runestaff or be a sword/brawl and board build.

If you want to go the Runestaff route you should aim for a minimum of 8 magical ranks per training. This will increase your DS with your staff and help with parrying. Like The Witch said the only thing you have to worry about is being disarmed. So know you enemy and disable those quickly.

1x AS
1x MIU
2x Spell Aiming
1x HP
1x in both EMC and SMC
1x in Sorcerery Lores
.5x In Summoning lores
2.33x to 2.45x in Spells.

If I were to go this route, I would recommend to you to get 52 ranks of Demonology first. Because of the benefits of 712 and 704. Then I would recommend changing over to necro. I can't tell you how great the spell Pain (711) really is.

Why the .5x in summoning lores? With 20 ranks you can bolt things with spell 118. Then you eventually can do things like cast 125 indoors and locate folks in other realms with 116

Why 2.33x to 2.45x in Spells? Honestly Sorcerery is still based off of high CS = Win. Our spells except for 711, are not fueled by our sorcerery lores. Also there are a few dinosaurs from the old GS3 years that plague us today. Namely all the creatures have a HIGH TD versus sorcerer spells. Expect to "plink"

How high should your CS be? Honestly it is a personal feeling. If you are having a hard time casting against creatures. You might want to add more Sorcerer ranks. Don't have more than 20 ranks over your current level because you will see diminishing returns

When Zhelas eventually capped this was his skills. His CS is 513. Which is good enough for now against most of the creatures.

No, you don't need two handers. Rune staffs, for purposes of calculating the defense you get for holding them, count how many magical ranks total you have. You don't need any weapon skills at all to get defense from them.

To check if you have a stat allocation left, go to an inn and check in. If you have stat allocations, you will have an option that says something like "Reallocate starting statistics (5 uses left)"

You really should be 1x in both EMC and SMC. Why?

First they are considered magical ranks and will help you with your runestaff defense.

They help determine how much mana you get back from 719.

They reduce the cost of Focused Implosion.

They also determine how much mana you get back per pulse. Zhelas gets 93 mana back per pulse when he sits on a node.

I also believe they factor in on Scroll Infusion. I will let Fallen clarify that bit.

Note to self, it is a pain in the ass to respond to posts on an Iphone. Spiritual mana control will allow you to be more efficient in mana to charge ratio for spiritual based spells, and Elemental mana control for elemental spells.

What this means is if it costs 14 mana per charge to Elemental Defense 3, without a high mana control it may cost you MORE than 14 mana per charge. This increases the chance you will lock a scroll, as you will have to make more infusion attempts to fill up all the charges. Of course, 414 wont challenge even a poorly trained sorcerer due to it being a known spell, I just picked as an example.

This will all sound like greek to the OP, but once you are familiar with the spell of Scroll Infusion in general, it will make more sense.

Mana controls for sorcerers are a bit wonky in terms of mana returns. Your PRIMARY mana control, which means the one you have more ranks in, will give you back 1 extra mana per pulse every 10 ranks you have. Your SECONDARY mana control will give you back 1 extra mana per pulse for every 20 ranks you have. If you have the same amount of ranks in each skill, I think it just picks one at random to be your primary.

Querthose also said mana controls helped for AD durations, but I never noticed any differences.

Oh, and they also allow you to send mana to other people. You need Spiritual mana control to send mana to people with "Spiritual mana", which are clerics, empaths, and rangers. Elemental mana control for wizards and bards. 24 ranks of spiritual mana control will allow you to resurrect people via scrolls with 100 accuracy too.

run stat cruncher for race/profession/level. Personally I would rec that you place stats to max at either 75 or 100. I've personally always gone with 75, mainly because I know that I will never see 100 with any character I ever play.
