some articulated spiked imflass plate with a foaming mug of ale emblazoned on each shoulder.

Examining the plate closely, it looks like it is exceptionally padded, lessening the damage the wearer takes

The first thing that strikes you about the plate is the weight, which is about 39 pounds

It has a bonus of +22 from a normal plate, and the way it vibrates in tune with your voice tells you that it is plate armor

MB: 40 Mil
CB: 0

Just don't think damage padding is worth that much.

I've always assumed damage padding would ultimately be better for me than crit padding since I only have 124 health... I think I'd rather try and get my 22lb plate lightened and padded though.

The randomization just kills the usefulness of damage padding though.

Is crit padding the same way? I'm not in plate yet (29), but I think I would prefer damage padding over crit. When I do die it's usually from getting stunned and plinked to death.

Yup, up to 6 points always gives the full effect, but after that it's random. So if you have 10 points (heavy) of damage padding, on any given hit it will reduce the damage by a minimum of 6, and a maximum of 10, averaging 8 damage reduced per hit.

is exceptional still around 15-19 points?

Emeradan as a hardcore gm:

Your damage padding for the previous attack was hidden, because it's 3am and I was bored. This is the 5th instance of padding that I have removed from your attack resolution for this reason.
