Okay, PsiNet is causing me great frustration and I make this <--> close to shitting myself.
After I try installing PsiNet Sage, it almost finishes the installation and then I get this cockamamie BS:
Setup was unable to modify the registry. Please make sure you are running as an administrator, and try again.
After that, I get this:
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2869.
I gave it full permissions and everything and I am mad as fuck.
Bye.

Install Lich :)
If you want to talk to OOC or use aliases without the semicolon this is not the solution.
Try reinstalling the game launcher and then trying again.

The problem was that I have Vista and UAC + registries and file executions/paths that are wonky.
I did seven things (in the following order) and it worked. I think this will help Vista users install it in the future:
A) Set full permissions for the installation file.
B) Regedited inherited permissions to green light everything for Simutronics.
C) Disabled UAC.
D) Moved everything in SIMU to Desktop in a folder.
E) Restarted computer.
F) Successfully ran PsiNet installation package.
G) Moved SIMU files back to SIMU.

Try reinstalling the game launcher and then trying again.
Aliases don't require a semicolon.

UAC is a fucking nuisance, I've not once found it to be applied usefully.

Anyone with half a brain and a smidgen of computer experience should just disable it and save the headache.

I get this same problem so I just went to lich....though I still have to log in through the command prompt via \cd>cd ruby>cd lich> lich.rb c:\users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Gse.~xt and wait 20 or so seconds and SF comes up.

The whole point of UAC was to make application developers be a bit more frugal when it comes to asking for permissions. It shouldn't need that level of permissions, and granting it that level of permissions just opens up potential for exploit...

most play plat, and use lich to communicate and script without intervention from Game Masters and Game Hosts, they pay the big bucks 49 USd a month to script as they please on plat, but witht he free trial, plat has become a hunting ground for scripters while the summer long plat tour goes on. when the trials is over plat will be back to its regular custodial poeple whoplay for the real RP experience, emmersion in plat is a must to get along with others

Wait, you don't get busted for scripting on Plat? If only it wasn't 49.95... :(

You're saying you believe the influx of people on the plat trial accounts are script hunters? That seems pretty odd, but I guess I can understand they would want to script out 1-10ish to get past those boring levels. Just seems like a waste when you only have 2 months to play anyway.

And the point of 64-bit was to be able to use those extra address lines but it's taking hold slowly due to the vast number of people with outdated drivers that the software developers aren't willing to fix. It doesn't matter what the point of anything was if the software developers aren't willing to change.

Reinstall the Launcher from Play.net
After that reinstall the SGE and Lich should still be working fine. Make sure you installed Lich to the registry however.

Disabling it still won't install PsiNet properly (in my case, anyway [which is why I posted all those tedious steps.])
I put UAC back on too after all was well with the cosmos :(
Ahem.

Yep. 100%.
Server has been up and running for 141 days.
And we can back it up.

Yep. 100%.
Honestly though, I took the time to get it set up and I am totally converted. It really is nice.
I still run psinet for OOC though. It was the only thing that got me through mastering forging.

If Jamus would let us we'd do an OOC client script as well...

Anyone else think that people who "quit" playing a game should avoid content regarding said game?

Aethor is incorrect. He is thinking of DragonRealms the Fallen. You have a higher chance of being busted in Platinum over Prime due to the lack of players and it is easily to point out.
