I'm just a little curious if anyone in here has taken a good look at some of the upcoming titles, and if so which looks most attractive and why?

Up until recently I've played almost every mmo on the market, barring some of the smaller asian F2P titles and the softer titles appealing to the younger crowd.

Darkfall was in most peoples opinion a total failure, but the return to an open sandbox pvp world was refreshing, which is why I started this thread. Mortal Online looks to be making a possible run at the same type of game play, but perhaps with a more polished and thought out approach. Of course the new Star Wars title being published by Bioware sounds like a sure fire hit, but then again it's gameplay does appear to be a bit linear as of right now.

Are there any other titles out there that you think merit special attention?

Nothing in the near future that I can think of, only Warhammer 40k has me interested but that won't be out until 2011 or 2012.

FFXIV has my attention for a 2010 title.

I guess my concern with most of the upcoming titles is their concern with advances in graphics and gimmicks rather than investment in gameplay. It seems like grinding has replaced content.

I did play it for a few days actually. It was interesting being able to switch skills at will, and having missions helping one of the factions was neat too, but you can only go inside so many apartment buildings before it gets old.

Star Wars: TOR.

Bioware is master of creating RPG storylines.

Hero engine is supposedly the master of creating easily adaptable MMO's.

Combine the two and we could be looking at a MMO with the depth and staying power of Gemstone.

Staying power of Gemstone?

You realize that a graphics game will have to attract more than a couple hundred people to be successful, right?

Staying power of Gemstone indeed..
