Just landed in Anchorage after spending the summer at a remote field camp on the yukon delta......sober.

Have your geese changed their migration patterns due to the weather? I know in Fairbanks, for a while, the University was asking residents to chart black-billed magpies (and other common birds) during the dark season. Apparently, they arent flying south as soon as they used to, and they are moving north in general. It was tons of fun looking for a black and white bird in a black and white forest in the dark, at minus 30. :)

You might want to narrow that recommendation down a wee bit. The Chugach is a mountain range covering a hell of a lot of ground. The Chugach national park itself is the size of New Hampshire.

I havent hiked fifty trails in Chugach.

I dont know I guess I would say the trailheads off of Seward Highway and Glenn Highway are great. They were easy to get to.

One of those had a huge waterfall...It looked like some paradise in Brazil. I wish I could remember the name.

Yeah, accessibility is the biggest drawback when hiking there. Unless you're super fit and have tons of time that is.

Yeah, accessibility is the biggest drawback when hiking there. Unless you're super fit and have tons of time that is.

I'm jealous of the people who go there and backpack for a weeks. I never had that time. It was more like....drive down there and do 8 hours on a Saturday, read and stare at mountains, camp, drive back Sunday....and try really really hard not to get injured because I wasnt even supposed to be there in the first place.

It was a hell of a place to escape to though.
