Anyone intersted in testing some network code for a game engine I am developing? I am just interested in seeing what sort of connection speeds people see when issuing basic commands. I figure there are some people here that might be interested.

IP Address: 24.17.218.187

commands:
go <direction>
experience
inventory
smile
sit
stand
kneel
lay

What port? It's apparently not running on Telnet (23).

That IP is not responding to pings either, so I have a feeling you're either not running the service or behind a firewall.

Port 4000. My mistake.

Taking it offline due to lack of interest. I will continue to do more realtime testing against the server and hopefully have more to offer at a later date.

Back online. Account creation is ingame so you dont need to do anything. Just create your character and walk around and see what the lag feels like.

Maybe I'm retarded but it thinks my first keystroke is my account name, then asks for a password and registers my next keystroke, then disconnects.

What client are you using? I use Mushclient right now until the custom client is completed.

Character creation is open and I could use some more people hammering away at the service. Thanks in advance.

Works smooth. No lag that I can tell. Now get on the ball and open up some combat abilities.

Oh, and alias the directionals...

I am working on generating some simple combat mechanics. I want the equations to be easy to understand but scale indefinitely. I want to make a game that theoretically has no maximum level.

call it gemstone iii...then later make a level cap and just add a # to your game

Looks very nice for a start.

I wish you the greatest success and fun in designing your code and world.

Indeed. Thanks, Jump. I can paint if you need it.

Welcome! Thanks for helping out. I will try and leave the game up as much as possible so more and more people can help test it out if they want.

Okay... so I type Create [name] and it asks me to choose a race and none register as valid choices...

Can you paste a log of that? Just a copy/paste of what you are typing and what you are seeing?

Really strange. What client are you using? The only one I have verified to work is Mushclient. Until the custom client is released that is the officially supported one.

GMud.

Most likely GMud is terminating its strings in a way different than MushClient. I would suggest downloading MushClient and trying that until I have time to investigate compatibility with GMud.

Trying with GMUD v1.9b now does not even allow character creation. It seems to think "Create" (both capitalized or all lowercase) is an account.

Just passing the info along.
