Wondering what advice ya can give a brand new cleric?

I would make a nice character whose prime stats will be 100 by level 25. That will get your feet wet into the game and not make it painful as you learn. who knows where you will go and what profession you will like in 6 months, so it is better to not plan for level 100 on your first character.

Also use a morningstar and a shield, look toward joining Voln and training 2x in your spells per level. That is a nice vanilla start that will give you a solid playing experience.

Try to start in wehnimers landing, go to the Thrak Inn and speak with Mr. Raging Thrak behind the curtain. He will get you to level 1. then hunt some rats then move to rabid squirrels. Squirrel are great and will get you to level 3 maybe 4. then on to hobgoblins

read about the "gods", the arkati I think there is a site called arkati.org that will give you good flavor and background for roleplaying. i have always been partial to wild, unpredictable Charl, Lord of the Seas. ALso, his grotto by the beach is one the most peaceful, prettiest places in the game.

my friend told me by using a twohanded weapon I kill stuff way faster. His advice was to keep my cleric spells 1 rank above my level and focus on melee at first because my mana is too low to cast. I currently have a holy flamberge that I started out with and made it to level five already before I made this post. I should have included this info first.
