View Full Version : Practically New Player
Hey all,
I played Gemstone III from about 1997 to 2003, up to right about when the GS4 upgrade took place. Main characters played were Kylu and Akillo.
Anyway, obviously I've been out of the loop for a while and was thinking about getting back into the game. What would be a good site to hit up for information regarding all the changes that I'm sure has taken place?
Thanks,
Sam

This one, krakiipedia and the main forums. And of course, hanging out with folks in-game :) Feel free to ask any of my alts for help/advice (Phaeta, Corae, Alti, Lipon, Dhanis and Itanic)

I would say no to the main forums. Between the censorship, the fail search, and the overall layout it's a frustrating turd at best.

And you have to sort through Gren bitching about rogues in every forum.

If you can communicate without expletives, the officials are a great place to get info from other players. But that's only if you have a specific question that you want to ask. Definitely a fail search for already posted info.
Krakiipedia.org is the place to start searching for mechanical info, and here is where you post your f-bomb riddled rant about the stuff you hate.

What did you play in GS3, that'll make it easier to us to explain what all has changed.

The profession folders on the officials can be very helpful, if you're willing to spend some time going back through pages of old posts. Lots of info about training builds, spells, etc. There are also some interesting discussions about redux and other very technical systems in the hunting and game design folders. The officials can be quite frustrating sometimes, though.
Other than that, Krakiipedia.org is pretty much the go-to source for most general info, and searching these forums is often quite fruitful. The days of player-written profession guides are long over, so these sources are your best bet.
