View Full Version : GoS for my warrior...maybe
OK so Ive been blasting away with my little warrior lately. Just got him into the guild and have started working on my bashing and berserking reps. I decided to hold off on having him join a Society until I got into the Warrior Guild. So that time is here and GoS has my interest. Ive run my other toons through Voln and CoL and want to try GoS just cause its seems to fit the warrior well.
My fear is my warrior is hurting on his mana stats. I am still at 0 mana and haven't included harness power into my training plan to this point. Using the sigils in GoS it looks to be very mana and stamina intensive. With short durations of 1 minute and 3 minutes for the ones I would find myself using using the most.
Can someone give me an idea of what my targeted range of Mana should be to bring up all the signs and keeping them running long enough for a hunt?
I know if I was a little (allot) older this may not be too much of a problem. Perhaps I could just join and master before I even think about using it. By then perhaps some mana training would be there.
I'm still on the fence with this one, just need that final push or I may just go with CoL.
Thanks
Neo

You should probably Master Battering last, since it's currently the most useless skill in the Warriors guild. Any of the others are better, especially since Tricks gets you Feint.

Tricks and Warcries first.

I would start with tricks on day 1 and just keep working it up as you go along. Slow and steady. Tackle and disarm are my next two suggestions as both help immensely when you hunt. Warcries are nice but its hard to find partners so its another good one to just work up slowly when a partner is available. Batter should be the last one you focus on really.

I went Tricks, then Berserk, next is Warcries/Disarm.
As far as mana, all I use is offense/defense/focus. When I go into a warcamp, I go the full three minutes of focus and right before I go berserk I throw on Major Bane. At 36, I have 14 ranks of HP.

I'm going...
berserk (mastered) -> tricks (almost done!) -> disarm (rp influenced) -> warcries -> batter -> tackle
berserk has saved my life a ton, and is great with my copious amounts of MoC. One of the best things i ever did in gemstone was master it ASAP

If you are going to hunt stone creatures or things that fall and kill you, you might want to learn tackle before you get there. Prone them first and them ambush the head so you don't get crushed.

There's no way you'll have the Stamina to sustain Zerk around level 15.

Like the others have said, batter is definitely the best skill to train in last. The higher level boxes last longer for your reps, too.
Be ready for a lot of aggravation with GOS. The sigils don't last very long and it's annoying as hell to keep them running all the time.

not consistently, but having it to berserk out web/binds/stuns was incredible.
Hell, just having it mastered early so when i started hunting in the shadow valley i could berserk out of the stun when i jumped the ledge made it worth it :)
Tricks and Warcries first.
I figured Warcries were out because my INF is so low, will they even be effective?

Ive noticed that just as Ive started to do the reps with it.
I use MOC as a Two Weapon users as well; so when I have been berserking for the reps the swarms disappear FAST...

That is my fear, Ive really been thinking of Voln again but just dread the undead path.
My main is a wizard and as I grew I found the undead to be the easiest so Voln was a great fit until I made the switch to CoL for more AS and wracking.(Later I learned I think I did it backwards)
With my warrior I am pounding through all the critters my wizard avoided; Orc, trolls, and giants. Which fit right into the GoS stuff I have read.

Unless some of the younger critters have changed over the last few years, this was never a problem until my wizard got to the Stone Giants, and Illokes.

I definitely suggest getting 30-40 ranks of berserk but I dont know if its as important to master as early as something like disarm or tackle. Then again my warrior used a lance so I had different priorities than most.

Has tackle been changed at all in the last year or two? Was gone for a bit but i don't recall seeing anything.
It'd be nice to free the cman points up, but as far as knockdown goes there are so much better options i felt on the cman list for a knockdown/setup...twin hammerfists is pretty amazing (4 sec rt, knockdown on a 101, have to fumble horrifically to end up on the ground, chance to stun) hamstring, shield bash, etc.

I would highly recommend mastering berserk first, then warrior tricks.

Berserk and Feint are probably the two most useful warrior guild abilities. Berserk at low levels is great because you will find yourself stunned regularly, or possibly even webbed (spider temple!). Feint is incredible. You don't even need a knockdown ability if you can feint, ambush their leg, then kill them. Hell, I don't even bother to leg anything I can hit in the face or neck -- just feint and ambush head.
Anyway, as for GoS - You should be OK on mana. Keep in mind, it doesn't take a ton of mana to use the abilities, and you can always use Sigil of Power when you learn it for 25 mana. I think 10 ranks of harness power is probably sufficient.
Activate Sigil of Concentration before a hunt (10-15 minute duration that restores an additional 5 mana every pulse). Then just utilize defense/offense, and you should be able to keep either one major bane or one major protection active, or you could probably handle both minors at the same time.
You probably won't need focus as much at lower levels. I find it useful at higher trains in warcamps and other caster heavy areas, but for the most part I don't have to keep that one running.
Mending is great, but more like a tool to use during a retreat.
As long as you 2x in PT you should have sufficient stamina regen to use all the sigils and with 10 harness power ranks and sigil of concentration active, you will probably have enough mana to keep all the necessary abilities running.
Voln is a good one if you like to brawl and fight undead a lot, of course. CoL is also an easy society, but with fewer tools for the warrior when compared to GoS, and you must be wary of spirit drain (dunno if you have stats to support the signs or not, but that can pose a problem).

Not a factor if you use lich and a sigils script.

TRUTH. My GoS ranger at 30th has no issues keeping his stuff up.
if !Spell[9715].active? and checkstamina > 20 and checkmana > 20
fput "sigil of major bane"
end
if !Spell[9708].active? and checkstamina > 10 and checkmana > 10
fput "sigil of offense"
end
Blah, Blah, blah
