[Upper Trollfang]
This dark, narrow tunnel smells from the remains of small creatures that have crawled in here to die. The walls are covered with a slimy residue that also has an unpleasant odor. You also see a slimy chute.

The question is...
Are we reacting to the creator's sick mind.. or yours? ;)

I like these places...
[Crimson Arena]
A plethora of candles line the crimson walls, casting eerie shadows across the room. The arena is marked by a perimeter of painted crimson crates, none of which match in size or shape. The stone floor is stained a dirty brown near the middle of the ring. Smooth patches and the irregular density of the marks indicate a failed attempt to remove the discoloration. You also see a pitted iron hatch.
Obvious exits: none
[Dark Cavern, Underground Lake]
The narrow passageway ends abruptly, the walls stretching out to create a yawning, expansive room. A large lake spreads through the darkness of the cavern, the sounds of lapping water echoing from the distance belying the true size of the chamber. A faint mist rises from the glassy surface of the lake, the fluctuating miasma holding the foul scent of rot as it trails along the ground.
Obvious exits: south
[Altar of Sacrifice]
Set upon a lustrous dark marble dais, a massive black ora altar stands high above the room. Carved into the wall behind the imposing structure is a large serpent rearing back, its deep emerald eyes surveying all who would come to pray with its cold, studious gaze. The statue has been coated with a thick finish of bronze, its arcing wings stretching forth from the walls to curl around the altar in a sinuous embrace. You also see many candles positioned in precise descending rows around the altar.
Obvious exits: down
[The Warren, Wesl's Stall]
The proprietor of the stall stands behind a counter, polishing it with a rag attached to a hook, which in turn is attached to his wrist. The stall is large enough to offer a minor semblance of privacy and several crates are stacked around it as impromptu seating. Behind the tender, several shelves are decorated with a collection of bottles of various size and color.

I realize that there are many words in my personal lexicon directly stemming from GS. I find myself using "worthless hovel" and then giggling to myself.

Charl's Grotto off the coast (black sands area??) is very nice. dolphins swim around, pink peaceful glows, a giant clamshell to lounge in.
When I first started playing GS3, my friend, Wysteria, took my first character, a giantman warrior, down there. It is just one of my "fond memories" of Gemstone.
Yes right.it's a really great place.

"spasm of oaths" is a good one, most people laugh at that alone. I definitely find myself thumbing through the GS lexicon for adjectives and such.

Is this the cave gnome/gnoll area by the landing? I always thought that area was cool for some reason.
[Upper Trollfang, Outside Inn]
You stand atop a low, rolling hill. Green waves of grass and trees stretch back towards the higher hills that cradle this low clearing around the old inn. From this vantage point, you can survey the inn and its grounds, the decaying roof, the smashed windows, the empty courtyard. The wind whistles softly, forlornly, through the ruins and twists and eddies around you, causing the foliage to dance. Obvious exits: down

Most of the Deity Specific Major Sanctuaries could belong in this thread.

The Room of Insanity in the Sheru temple is neat. You can die if you stay in there long enough.
The sacrificing altars are sweet too. And highly amusing.

This is good room writing. You'd swear in most rooms the designers were paid by the word. Pinefar, before the rocks is another example of very good room writing.

[Teras Isle, High Road]
A particularly fearsome lava flow has obliterated a section of the causeway's upper lip, leaving a clear view of the volcanic slope above. Far above, the truncated cone of the volcano issues great clouds of steam into the air, and even at this distance an angry grumble rattles bone, stone, and soul.
Obvious paths: northeast, southwest, up
I always liked that room.
