ok So I want to roll a elf (Nalfein) rogue with TWC and Longswords. I plan on join GoS and want to maximize damage efficiency. I need some idea on starting attributes. I plan on serving Luukos but that wont effect anything really. I would also appreciate an idea of a training plan. I have pretty much made my mind up on being an elf and using longswords so no use trying to change my mind haha. thanks for the feedback.

according to the xygon stat cruncher her is what my stats would be at train 100:
(level 0) (Level 100)
str 70 100
con 70 91
dex 70 100
agi 80 100
dis 80 98
aur 60 90
log 70 98
int 70 100
wis70 84
inf 20 70

Sound solid?

I have to wonder, if your plan is to make a warcamp hunter, why would you pick a rogue?

gorea6

because they make great murderers...They can sneak up on someone and lop off a head then return to stealth (silent strike)

heh. you will see

I am not going into GoS for warcamps...Im going for the benefits like increased AS and DS and all that

Yeah, but rogues have no "mass attack" maneuver...do they? It's been awhile since I actually used my old rogue.

You seriously need a mass attack for warcamps.

the closest a rogue gets to mass attack (without training in MoC) is going to be a haste + 410 + ranged.

ok then since I have some experience in CoL I will join it....now can i get some info?

Yeah I mean the guys aren't being dicks. Without 316 I don't last in there. However I'm not GoS either I just checked the camps out for fun. Fun it was not, as I am not a pure (yet) I couldn't handle the crowds after a few waves. I don't think society matters as much as it is that crowds are best handled by classes other than rogues, haha. There is plenty of things to hunt in upwards of 50 trains that you can ambush and not get swarmed. I did precisely that with my old rogue. Good luck.

Increase your aura if you're going the COL route.

NocturnalRob

:yeahthat:

and if you're really looking to max out your stats, drop your agi and dex initially. they're way too high to start.

gorea6

how much should I drop my agi and dex? and how much should I increase Aura? sorry if I sound like I want you to do it for me but I just dont want to go too low or too high

Personally, I always wanted a 95 (10 spirit) by my late teens/early 20s.

I would drop dex/agi down to a point where they cap in the 60-70 range myself but I always based my stat placement more towards the overall TP side with the important stats hitting 100 rather then worrying so much about getting as many 100s as I could.

0 - 70 - 100
co 70 - 85 - 91
de 70 - 100 - 100
di 70 - 85 - 91
co 70 - 90 - 98
it 70 - 95 - 100
st 67 - 93 - 100
ag 63 - 100 - 100
if 20 - 60 - 70
wi 70 - 80 - 84
au 90 - 100 - 100

At level 20 my aura will be 95. Anything I should fix?

NocturnalRob

there's no real way to answer that. i mean...my rogue is 76 (?) and his dex and agi won't cap until level 90, I think. It's all a matter of personal preference.

You also have 30 days to readjust everything, so start low agi/dex = 55 or 60 and see if you can get by with that. And yeah, Bhuryn is right. if you're gonna go the CoL route, I would place the Aura stat so that you have 10 spirit by level 30 at the latest. This way if you're hunting and your Swords and Shields go down, you'll still be hunting at your effective AS.

i still think agi/dex are too high, but that's my personal preference. other than that, things look fine. again, you have 30 days to change, so place your stats where you're going to get the most benefit early on.

ok you all have been a big help. I think I have everything set up the way I want it. I have a pretty good training plan I worked out with my friend. He has a rogue also who is around mid 50s

OH! another question. Where should I stop training armor? im currently doing 1x armor and shield

Bhuryn

Most rogues go to 140 ranks for full plate.

NocturnalRob
07-16-2009, 10:47 AM
depends on your training path. if you're actually sticking with twc, I would train up to mbp (80 ranks?). At which point you can either make the decision to continue on to full plate or flesh out some other skills.

My rogue still hasn't made it to full plate yet, but apparently the difference is very noticeable.

wouldn't that take up a all of my encumberance? Just curious

gorea6

i changed my plan and I am going to go with a shield. Here is my current training path:

1x Armor,
1x Shield,
2x Combat Maneuvers,
2x Edged Weapons,
2x Ambush,
1x Physical fitness,
2x Dodging,
1x Survival,
1x Disarming Traps,
1x Picking Locks,
3x Stalking/Hiding,
3x Perception,
2x Pickpocketing,
0.3x climbing,
0.3x swimming.
2 ranks in Harness Power

NocturnalRob

actually, mbp is 70 ranks for the RT penalty and 80 ranks for the combat maneuver penalty. anything beyond that is gravy.

edit: 1x disarm/lockpick is a waste of time. either do it right--2.5-3x--or don't do it at all.

edit 2: also, there's no way you'll have enough tps to do all that.

wouldn't that take up a all of my encumberance? Just curious

Short answer: Armor doesn't encumber you like that.

Longer Answer: The standard weight of your armor class is SUBTRACTED from your encumberance. Meaning that if your vultite fullplate weighs 67 pounds, and the standard weight is 75 pounds, your armor will actually add -8 pounds to your encumberance. Hence why lightened fullplate is so valued.

Bhuryn

I would drop survival if you're not going to 2x it or 1x it and 1x FA.

This is only true for "low"-level CoL'ers. At 60, and with 9 spirit points, my paladin can have Swords & Dissipation up constantly. It might help that she has a +1 spirit regen item, but I doubt it. Her signs last ten minutes a pop, which is plenty of time to regen those two spirit points. (And the 7/9 spirit point drain from Swords & Dissipation dropping does not affect her AS/DS.)
