It's the biggest political question of the day, will Obama throw a better first pitch then Bush?

Bush had some heat on his pitch after 9/11 but he was older than Obama is now. I think Obama really wants to throw a good one and will be well practiced. That said, I think Bush's will end up better but I wouldn't bet on it.

Obama scored a 37 in bowling.. but is supposedly good at basketball.

It's a tough call. Hopefully, he won't throw it underhand though.

How far to the left of home plate will the catcher be sitting? :D

It is literally impossible for any president to ever throw a better first pitch than W.

It was weeks after 9/11, it was in New York, in Yankee Stadium (yeah, that's right Mets fans, I'm calling Shea a POS), in the World Series, and he fired it from the mound whereas most people throw in front of the mound.

Unbeatable.

I agree, that is one helluva a pitch he threw. Will be tough for Obama to beat.

USA USA USA USA

Unless Obama hits around 70 on the jugs right down the middle after a nuclear attack then it is impossible to beat.

Backlash a thread (v) -

1) To bring nonsense to an otherwise intelligent thread.
2) Posting in a thread that makes the reader believe that you are indeed retarded.
3) Overcompensating for a lack of intelligent thought by posting in a thread and not addressing the OP topic, but dwelling on a very small part of the thread and getting butt sore about it.

Any of you see the pitch? He barely made it, if the catcher had not moved forward it looks like the ball would have dropped right on home plate.

And now someone on the early show (cbs news) called it "a wicked sinker".

He definitely nancy'd it over. Probably afraid of throwing it over the catcher. That's always good for laughs. It's a ton of pressure.

It bothes me that the "tons of pressue" of throwing a pitch that doesn't matter can get to someone that's supposed to be the tip of the spear.

Haha, that's a good point.

It's a different kind of pressure though in my opinion. I might be in charge of some serious shit (and very competent, cool under pressure in that situation) but I'd still be nervous doing something as stupid as throwing a pitch in front of millions of people.

That link backlash posted summed the situation up pretty well.

He also (alleged that he) didn't play baseball as a lad, and he didn't look like he had done any warming up. Bush 1, Obama 0.

Should we take into account that Bush once owned the Texas Rangers?

And by owned he had what like a 5% share?

Point is Bush is known as a baseball man, Obama is known as a basketball man. Bush's history with attempting to pitch likely goes much further back than some White House scheduler fitting in some time with a throwing coach a few weeks before the All-Star Game.
